Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I got into Trent today, but where do you see how long you have to accept your offer? Do they send an email? All I got was an email stating I got an offer. Do I need to check on the mytrent account?

Same, I received only an email as well! Maybe they will email us again with that info? I hope someone who received an offer a few weeks ago can let us know.

Congrats on getting into Trent!

I got into Trent a couple weeks ago! If you check your ouac portal it'll tell you when your offer expires ?

No it was changed last month because I accept offer from other place last month. Admission officer told me they will release offer from April. No luck.... waiting from U of T and Trent also..so painful.

IKR!! I logged in couple of times per day to check it and I can't stop myself LOL

For those who just got accepted into Trent, what was your GPA/average?

I received an offer of admission from Trent on April 8th. You have to accept the offer on OUAC but it took a couple of days to show up. I have until April 30th to accept my offer so you'll likely get a few weeks to accept before your offer expires.

low 90's (GPA in last 20 courses = 3.92/4.00). I think once you meet the CASPer threshold, they only look at marks.

I got accepted to trent about a week ago and I think my last 20 courses ended up being around a 3.7 - 3.8

For those of you who had a prerequisite rejected and are required to retake it to be considered for UofT, did they indicate when the courses need to be completed by? I know for Athabasca you have to register by May 10th to start June 1st and the Bloomberg website says transcripts are due by June 15th which seems a bit unrealistic.

(For anyone curious my second humanities credit in Latin Studies was rejected to prevent future applicants from having the same issue as me - even though the course covers Roman culture/history it won’t be considered)

Can you share the link or explain where I can go to see the June 15th deadline, I can’t seem to find it anywhere

I thought final official transcripts are due by July 15 when I asked UofT admissions. Maybe email them just to be sure?

This makes a lot more sense, I can’t find the webpage anymore (the panics we put ourselves in during this process). I did email but I got an out of office until next Tuesday  response, so just wanting to make sure. Still looking for the webpage but I will let everyone know when I hear back incase anyone else is in the same boat.

Hey! I am pretty sure the grades are due in July. I am retaking A&P and have to have it completed by July. I know with Athabasca if you register now you can ask for early access to the course so you can see what the assignments and the syllabus is, you just cannot submit any assignments or write any exams/quizzes. Just remember the timeline of Athabasca so you can book exams and submit assignments in time for UofT deadline. You need to book exams to be invigilated 20 days in advance, and it takes 8-10 days for them to mark and hand back grades. I know with my A&P course, I have the syllabus so I can see what chapters I need to do and I can also see what the tests are on to help me better prepare.

Athabasca will tell you that they don't recommend doing the course for your best interest but you can still enrol! It'll be tough but worth it in the end!
