Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Ya, yikes!!

Was anyone here hoping for Ottawa as first choice?

This was the only program I applied to. But it was more out of convenience because I live in Ottawa and don't want to move right now. I have a job that pays well, but I hate it, maybe it's just a sign that I shouldn't do nursing after all.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I really do encourage you to just maybe take this as a sign to take it slow, work, finish the courses slowly and in a mindful manner and apply again next year. The irresponsibility of a university shouldn’t make you lose hope. My thoughts are with you, I know this must be so disappointing and frankly, infuriating.

Thank you for your kind words!

Yes you can definitely still get accepted to other schools even if you accept this offer!! Do not worry! You will not be affected in terms of offers of admission from other schools even if you accept York's! Congrats on the offer ?

I accept offer from York and all other universities update that I accept offer somewhere else. I was so surprised to see it. I don't know how it will affect to get offer from other universities.

Hello,

Hope you all are doing well,

I just found out about this forum and was reading all the posts and replies.

Honestly, really helpful,

I have applied to UFT, Trent and York for second entry nursing, and I haven't heard anything back from them yet,

I am still currently enrolled in A&P course from Ryerson, and will be finishing this in April end, hopefully.

does anybody know how long would the universities take to reply or get back? just curious and nervous LOL

Thank you ?

Thank you ?

People have already heard back/been accepted to York. I gave them a call yesterday, it looks it's rolling admission and those who already have all the pre-reqs done/applied early are looked at first. UFT doesn't start sending our replies until end of March, all way up to June 30. Don't know about Trent.  I'm still waiting to hear back too as I'm taking the Microbio prerequisite atm. Good luck to you ..the waiting is killing me LOL

I was looking at my York application today and it went from "No decision yet" to "No decision yet - currently under consideration". Does anybody know what this means?

It’s probably them just now getting to your application and reviewing it to see if they can offer you admission but they haven’t made a final decision.

fingers crossed you get in ?

Can I ask whether you're done all your prerequisites? Also, when you did your casper? Just trying to gauge when they will reach my application LOL

Yep that’s it! Mine changed to that about a week before I got my offer.

Can I ask whether you had anything outstanding course wise? (I'm still doing my microbio) Also, when you did your casper? Had I known it was rolling admission I would done everything  earlier ?

I applied super early, and took Casper in November. I was taking two prereq courses when I applied (finished before I got my offer) and I’m taking my last one right now. My offer is conditional on finishing with a B in this last course.
