Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I called them to find out what was going on and after numerous emails/phone calls to various people, I found out that despite NOT updating their website whatsoever, they've changed their second-entry nursing program completely. I was told this from the faculty of health sciences:
I can say for sure that there will be no courses offered in May for any second entry nursing students. This modified program integrates students into the regular program, so for example, students would take the second year intro to nursing science in the fall along with pathophysiology, then the second year Intro to nursing practice along with pharmacology in the Winter and then integrate into the 3rd year regular program the following year. So, the same number of credits for the second entry program is spread through a 3 year period.
So.... when we applied we were told it was a TWO year program that started in May. I have been stressing, rushing to finish my ANP course by their April 15 deadline, to only be told after reaching out to them that the prerequisites only need to be done by AUGUST 15. Again, this is not updated on the uOttawa website anywhere. What a shitshow.
Also, they've already sent out their max number of acceptance offers. If you're on the waiting list (like me), you'll hear by April 1 (apparently) whether or not there's a spot for you (if those who've been accepted declined, or if you're refused).
I'm extremely disappointed by their lack of communication. I was told conflicting information from various faculty ALL DAY LONG. Anyways, rant over.
This doesn't surprise me at ALL. Two years ago they abruptly stopped their accelerated program and then just ghosted their website entirely until this year. I had planned to apply to their program but I'm so glad I went elsewhere. Also, as someone who grew up in Ottawa and knows a lot of people who did two degrees (one at UofO, one somewhere else) they all said the administration at UofO was awful (confusing, late, contradictory, lacking) compared to their other school. I wouldn't trust them to communicate well around this in the slightest. Really feel for all the students that paid application fees for the *** show you described - esp the extra year??! So bizarre.

I’d literally ask for my money back. How horrible of them.. no wonder they’re going under. Horrible and unprofessional. To those who only applied to UOttawa, I highly recommend getting your fees back.

My application to western was only completed late in the cycle (early feb; york and their slow transcripts)
But I started my western application in November/December.
I did my casper test on January 12th ☺️
Congrats, what was your GPA for the last 2 years?

No way. I thought from their website that there is an intake for this May 2021, and then only after that they are looking into updating their nursing program entirely hence not accepting new applications at this time.
Thanks for your update. I don't know if I want to call admissions and ask what's up. Did you talk to admissions? I wouldn't be surprised if faculty members are unaware of the last intake into the old system of nursing.
OK I just called admissions uOttawa and they said that every submitted application will be evaluated but they just don't know what will happen after. Essentially they don't know if the program will be going and in what form because it is under review. They also don't know if I should rush my prerequisites by April 15. But she didn't say that they have sent out all invites. She said acceptance is limited and she doesn't know how many spots will be offered because they don't know what's up with the program yet.

I contacted the School of Nursing at uOttawa directly, they told me there are NO classes for accelerated nursing starting in May "for certain" because of the pandemic.
The admissions officer told me that they've already given out all the acceptances and only if people refuse will they move on those on the waiting list.
I had called admissions first and they were not helpful and giving me conflicting information, so I contacted the faculty itself and had the admissions officer message me directly to clarify the May start.

Honestly that is all pretty insane. How did they allow people to pay to apply when they don't even know if/how they are running the program? How is there not updated info on their site? There is absolutely no way that I would enrol there if they can't even figure out what's going on with admissions.

Oh yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous and totally unacceptable. I'd always heaaaard bad things but never did I imagine it'd be this bad

That's really concerning. I wonder if accepted people even know when/if they start school?
Honestly, at this point I am just hoping I can reschedule my exams for later and actually enjoy the courses I've been taking in Athabasca. Even if I don't get into nursing this year, at the very least I want to enjoy my anatomy and physiology course. I have been rushing it like crazy because of the deadline. I just hope they can confirm that officially, so that I can live my life.
