Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Just got accepted into McMaster...! Could anyone give me insight on the pros or cons of McMaster, Western and UofT accelerating nursing programs?

Congratulations! For McMaster, did the acceptance appear on your Mosaic first or did you get an email?

Congratulations!! I did this morning as well!

I'm caught between Western and Trent. May I ask why you chose to decline Trent? Also wondering if anyone could provide some insight to both programs as well? That would be super appreciated!

Honestly it's a tough decision. Trent is a lot closer to home for me (I'm from Ottawa), but the program is two semesters longer. It means more clinical hours at Trent but I'm wanting to start working asap. Also, Western is associated with a med school, which means a better teaching hospital. Both are really good options though! It's tough to choose.

Also just got into McMaster! I'm in the same boat now trying to decide between McMaster and Western. They both seem like good programs.

Would you take their HSci offer if all else doesn't work out? I got into the Ryerson 4 year program which is my backup so I am looking at my options right now, but still hoping for the best. Hopefully we both get in soon enough!

I think I would just take courses at western to improve my marks instead because I live here so it would be better financially for me. That amazing that you got into the 4 year program! Honestly, Trent's program is already a bit longer than other accelerated so thats a good back up!

@nursesavelifes I got an email about my acceptance for McMaster! I was originally declined actually but they said they received funding for more spots.

Hi guys!
I cancelled my offer to YorkU after having received an offer from Nipissing.
For some odd reason, the application on York's MyFile indicates that I have been admitted.. The other day, I received an email from York with info pertaining ID cards, orientation etc.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

I think you may have read that wrong. The person's application was denied before and has changed to pending now so thats a good thing. Hope you hear some good news soon.

Yes - For McMaster, I received a denied mid-May; last night it changed to pending. At 4:30pm today, I received an email of acceptance and I just checked my Mosaic now (10pm), I have the blue square, yay! Conditional offer pending a minimum C- grade for my AP course due Aug1. OUAC acceptance is due June 15th.

I will be declining since I accepted Nipissing already. ❤️

*** Adding that I'm not sure what my last two years GPA is since I did 5 years (switched programs) and my degree is from back home. It is probably a B+ to A-. I felt pretty good about my CASPer.

I wonder how they’re going down the list for McMaster? I’ve been pending this whole time still ?

Me too! I wonder if it’s true that internal applicants are last priority (saw this on reddit). Tbh just need a decision, even if it’s a reject.

Are you internal? I’m an external applicant ☹️ And same! I just want a yes or a no at this point

Yah, internal! We should get a decision soon though, most likely this week.
