Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

York is quite more expensive. The whole degree costs around 22k (about 11k/year) while Mac's degree costs around 14k (9k first year, 5k 2nd year). I believe Mac offers one of the cheapest accelerated nursing programs (if not the cheapest).

Just curious where did you find this information for Mac?

That's a very good GPA

Apparently all McMaster acceptances have gone out:

Not sure if true but this is what the rumour mill says

Wonder if this takes into account rejects too

I know last year my rejection was sent out around June 6th so there is still some hope! I was able to get an acceptance into another program so it could be worse. ?

Really don’t think this is true as admissions are given out May- end of June so there’s still lots of time

I hope it’s inaccurate!

Both my GPA and CGPA were 3.9/4.0 at the time of application. My conditions were that I complete the philosophy prerequisite with a final grade of B by August 15th (the only prerequisite I haven't completed). My GPA is kinda high so I don't think it's the norm/expectation. They also take into consideration your CASPer score so I've heard from previous years that some people with lower GPAs get accepted. Similarly, those with high GPAs sometimes get rejected!

Yea I can probably attest to this my CGPA was a 3.0 and my GPA for my last 10 courses was about a 3.6 and at the time of applying. I got a conditional offer on the 30th as well. So you shouldn't worry too much about GPA as I think York considers the Casper pretty heavily too!

Does anyone else feel hopeless with their applications? I haven’t received any decisions yet and I’m really starting to lose hope. My cGPA is super low at 3.0 but I feel really good about my CASPer. I have a life sci degree but honestly I don’t know what to do with it. If I apply next cycle, what can I do in the meantime to boost my GPA? Would continuing education courses count or should I take an easier program to get into? Or just start finding some entry level work? Any advice would be appreciated honestly

I applied to Mac and Humber and my decisions are both still pending.
