Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I was wondering what peoples back up plan is if they don't get acceptance this year. Are you guys going to wait till next year to apply again? Or do something else instead?

I applied to the Ryerson 4 yr program and got in and I plan to go if I don't get in for any second entry programs. Only because I know if I take time off school, I'll have a hard time to get back. Also, because since I've done the prereqs, I won't have to do them (they can transfer) and can work during school since it won't as compressed, which will help me pay tuition. Also, if I wait, I feel like it will extend my time to be a RN as in if my average was too low for second entry, I might need to take a few more courses and get experience, etc., to apply again. Trying to think of the positive but that's my plan if I have no luck with second entry programs ?

has anyone heard from mac yet?

When I emailed them last week they responded and said offers would be sent out in May but they didn’t have an exact date. I’m still waiting on an answer myself ?

When I asked the first week of May they said offers will be given out within the next few weeks.

Hi everyone,

I got into Nipissing last Friday (conditional offer, need to submit transcript)!! Saw the change in status on webadvisor, got an email yesterday. I still can't believe it and it hasn't hit me yet. I also applied to UofT, Trent, Western, Mac, Queens (no response to all, except waitlisted at queens). They must weigh Caspr heavily because my last 10.0 courses is around 78 average (without my Winter marks, 2 courses) into consideration. I felt good when I did my caspr test in January.

My transcript from Western is taking a while to send to OUAC. Western said they sent it, but OUAC said they haven't received it.. so I'm dealing with that at the moment.

Good luck to everyone! I was rejected from Western last year with 78, thought there was no way I could continue. There's hope as long as you believe in yourself.

hello guys, just wanna ask if there are people (aside from me) who are still waitlisted at Queen's? does anyone know what are the odds of people who are waitlisted to get in the program? I'm getting kinda anxious even though there's still 3 months left.

I just got accepted today! I’m an internal applicant, I’m not sure if that makes a difference. We have 10 days to decide though so I think they’re going to release offers as people decline. Hang in there!

Does anyone know if york's tuition fees are less compared to mac?

Does anyone happen to know when NCLEX exams are usually scheduled (without covid). I’m trying to figure out how soon after completing the program I will be able to write the NCLEX.

Congratulations!! Do you mind sharing your GPA?

Hey! Im also waitlisted but I saw a week ago a few people getting off the waitlist on here. I feel like with a few schools not sending out there offers yet, there's still chance that people might decline. The only problem is we don't know how many people are waitlisted and queens class size is small to begin with. Im nervous as well but fingers crossed!
