I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.
Oh hey, I received offers on both schools! I chose to accept Humber because I think it’s the better option between the two. I have only heard good things about their UNB program. From what I gathered in terms of comparing it with York, Humber has good placement partners, less academic workload (it doesn’t require you to do 15-18 credits per sem since it is more clinical driven), higher NCLEX pass rates (guarantees you becoming an RN), less dropout rates (Going to york is probably exhaustive as their NCLEX attempters are way way less than their 170 class size), cheaper tuition (you’ll save a few thousand bucks with Humber), offers free nursing scrubs and Littman stethoscope(not sure if York does the same), less prone to strikes (that 2018 york strike tho), and smaller class size (it may give you an advantage in getting references for grad school). Plus, there is that special feeling to be part of that last University of New Brunswick class in Humber (it makes you feel part of history LOL).
I wasn't the one who asked the question but I was curious as well so thank you for the information. Since you accept Humber through Ontario colleges , did it affect your offers that were on OUAC?

No, it didn't. I still have my offer in York on hand which I will let expire.
Hi guys, I had a quick question regarding McMaster's admission process. So, I was completing 4 prereqs in the Winter term and sent my unofficial transcript with the marks to the nursing admissions email since the portal didn't give me an option (I had uploaded one already prior to the start of Winter term) and I was told by the nursing admissions that they don't need it. Wouldn't they need my Winter term transcript to calculate my avg and see if prereqs are completed? I'm so confused. Anyone else in a similar situation? I did request OUAC to send an official one just in case.

I am in the same situation. I emailed admissions and they said they will just look at the marks I provided in my application and give a conditional based on those grades. They said I only need to provide my prerequisites if I am accepted into the program. So I will only be requesting an official transcript if I get accepted.

I mean, it might not hurt for you to email admissions as well and ask. I am a mature student and already have a degree, so the above was their response to my prerequisite courses I took over the last year. It might be different for you if you have a whole term of grades they haven't seen yet? Not sure!
Did anyone take Athabasca anatomy and physiology course ? How did that go ?
Hey! I am currently taking the course and am just finishing it up, my final exam is end of May!
I really enjoyed this course, I have some background in physiology due to my degree in Neuroscience - however only have background in neuroanatomy, so most of the anatomy was new for me.
I work full time in a demanding job and was taking another course at the same time of doing this and felt that the self paced nature was awesome. They give you all the resources you need to excel (textbook and online quizzing website). I spend about 15h a week on material, I use active reading and quiz myself on each chapter and has found that this method accelerates the learning of material in a shorter amount of time.
The one downside of the course is that even though there is a tutor, it takes a few days to a week for them to get back to you and they only re-state the textbook. They provide more support for questions like "will this be on the exam?" rather than "can you explain this topic in lay terms."
I know!! I haven't heard anything. I emailed queen's admissions this morning and I keep checking my email and status on solus every 20 minutes...it's driving me insane!!
Did they say anything to you? I have had the same thing happen to me as well!
hey guys! I have a few questions about mcmaster’s accelerated nursing program.
1) do they favour students that have completed their degree over those that haven’t?
2) is a GPA of 3.77-3.83 enough to get in? it’s an 11 on the 12.0 scale (I’m a mac student) but IDK if they consider that.
Sorry I’m not sure about the first question. But as for your second question, I asked admissions and a 3.8 is competitive. It depends on your Casper score too though, I’ve read about people with 3.6-3.7 getting into the program!
