Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?
I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:
1. Queen's
2. McMaster
3. York
4. Humber-UNB
Hello everyone!
CONGRATS to everyone who got in! So happy for you all!
I'm just wondering if anyone knows when Western will release their next batch of admissions???
Also if anyone who is in the UofT, I just wanted to know what would be the chances of someone getting into the program with like a 3.61 GPA (for the 5 FCEs), ECs with volunteering at the hospital, a long-term care facility, being an upper year science mentor, being an exec of a STEM university club, having some study abroad experience. But their pre-req grades aren't the highest (especially in one anatomy course...)???

Hii, I just got in on Friday and would say my extracurriculars aren't too different from yours (volunteering in a hospital with elderly patients, TAing, and a few other minor things) so I think in that area you should be good. My GPA for the last 5.0 FCEs was 3.87 (cGPA 3.78 ish), but we're also in early acceptance rounds. I'm not sure how they weigh the prereq grades though tbh. I've read on previous threads people getting in with high 70s average. Best of luck ?

Hello! Not a strange question at all. I struggled with the exact same thing for a while. I even went as far as to write my MCAT and apply back in 2018. Tbh, I didn't get accepted into any and it made me start to look at other options. Once I started considering nursing it felt like I should have been pursuing it all along. I wanted to be in health care and be able to use all of my knowledge from my biomed degree but I also wanted to develop relationships with patients and truly be part of their day to day care. To me the major difference is that medicine has more of a focus on disease and problem solving and nursing has more of a focus on people and relationships. They are both incredibly rewarding positions but nursing just seemed to make more sense for me. Hope this helps!

I looked into medicine and I just didn't have a cGPA high enough. I decided on nursing because of my experiences with nurses when I was sick. I liked how much patient Interaction there was.
Did anyone apply to the accelerated nursing programs with exceptional circumstances? Which schools accepted your letter? I remember asking one school and they said they didn't accept them so I'm wondering if a school did.

Hey! I just got in this Friday and I also had similar ECs, except I had public/community health experience instead of hospital/ LTC experience. I also have some conference presentations and research experience. My GPA for the last 5 FCEs was around 3.85. I had a C in one of my prereqs, so they really do look at everything, I don't think you will be at a disadvantage if you didn't do well in one prereq.

aaahhh... this waiting game ....
exhale... inhale... exhale ..inhale
Hey! I saw a faculty self-study from 2017 somewhere online at the beginning of the year, and from what I remember, around 170 students register from ~750 applicants, so that's about a 22-23% acceptance rate for UofT.
Best of luck, I hope you hear some good news soon!
