Hello Everyone,
I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York
only next year (yes I am going through the strike).
Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.
Hey guys!! been following this thread for a while and wanted to chime in - I recently received offers from Trent and Mac ? I also had one from Western but I let the offer expire (so that should open up a spot for someone!)
Does anyone have any opinions (or know of people's experiences) about choosing Mac vs. Trent? I'm finding it hard to choose between them..

Congratulations! Can I ask what your GPA is and when you heard from Trent? When I talked to them they said offers would be another few weeks and now I’m stressing that offers are going out and I still haven’t heard

Yeah no worries! My GPA for the last two years was a 4.0 (I'm entering with a full 4 year undergrad). I got the email for Trent on April 2nd but I actually didn't notice until a few days later because for some reason the email was automatically moved into a folder called "important" and didn't show up in my regular inbox.. I'm not sure if that might happen to anyone else but just a warning if you're using Gmail to make sure to check this other folder too!

Mac is 20 months, and has PBL. PBL can be tough and really depends on your group /tutor. PBL is also very self-directed, so if you want to be in charge of your learning the mcmaster is a good option. However PBL is not for everyone. Mcmaster is also #4 in Canada for nursing.
Trent is 28 months and I've herd good thing about the program. , I think Trent is more lecture based. I think you may also get more clinical hours out of the 28 months then Mcmasters 20.

When I checked it, it quoted me a little under 8k for domestic. I’m not sure about the summer term payments though. I’m assuming the 8k is only for Sept-April.

Hey CMM7, for Mac's courses you can check them out at this website: https://nursing.mcmaster.ca/programs/undergraduate/bscn-accelerated just click the tab for sept. 2018
Hey guys, I have also been following this thread for a while just waiting for acceptances to arrive. I have now been accepted to Trent, Nipissing, Humber, Mac and U of T. I think my top three are Humber, Mac and U of T, but I am having a really hard time choosing. Any advice about the programs? I know U of T accepts around 175 students which is much more than the other programs, would this be a disadvantage?
Also for U of T, I received an email of acceptance, but it has not shown up on OUAC yet, is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Congratulations! What was your GPA for the last 5.0 credits for UofT? and your ECs?

Around a 3.9, my university does it on a 12-point scale so it's hard to determine it exactly. For my ECs, I had volunteered with a physio clinic, speech pathology clinic, and the hospital. I also had a research assistant position for a language learning lab for 2 years and I think I mentioned I did a directed studies on concussions. I didn't really feel as though my ECs were incredible like some of the other students who applied, so don't give up hope if you haven't gotten accepted yet!

I put Psychology as a second choice so that I had an option if I didn't get in to nursing right away (nursing is still my end goal). When I applied to my first undergrad though you were allowed a third choice as some schools and they only considered your third choice if you didn't get in to your first or second choice (I think...? It was years ago, I may be wrong).
