Hello Everyone,
I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York
only next year (yes I am going through the strike).
Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.
Hi everyone - congratulations to all who've received offers and to those who haven't yet, just remember that it's still very early on in the process so no need to worry, your offer will come as well! Keep in mind they send them out all the way up until June.
I received McMaster earlier this week but not U of T or York yet. I applied last year to York and U of T and got conditional offers to both but I was not able to start in Sep 2018 because I couldn't complete the physiology course that my offers were conditional upon by the deadline, unfortunately. This time around, I've completed all the courses and maintained my GPA that I got in with last year, so I'm hoping to get into York and U of T as well again this year. Which brings me to my question to you guys - For those considering York, U of T, or Mac, what are your reasons for having a preference towards one school over the over? I've tried looking into this online but I'm finding very limited information.
Based on the information I have, I'm leaning towards U of T because I want to work at Sick Kids/ in pediatric nursing upon graduation, and I've been told that because U of T does placements at Sick Kids it'll be a good way to get in to that. Additionally U of T is the only program that I noticed does not include a biochem course (Mac has it as a prereq and York has it included in the program) - chem has never been my strong suit so that is a plus for me. The big drawback to U of T of course is the cost - double that of York or Mac.
Mac and York both sound like great programs as well and I'm sure they have great placements and provide great opportunity to work in the pediatrics after graduation. Which is why I'm struggling to decide between the 3. If anyone has any insight to any of these programs, please share!
In terms of program intensity, I would assume all 3 programs are equally challenging and work intensive but if anyone has insight into that as well it would also be helpful to know!

Right before the transfer credit blurb, for me it says admission conditions. The condition is to get a B+ in the last year. Double check this section, if not maybe you have no conditions?!
On their site their admission requirements are to have a cGPA of a 6 on their scale or a B, and a B+ or 7 on their scale for the last year. It also states to have specific courses and at least a B on the york scale in them. So just to be safe even if your letter doesn't state any conditions I would probably keep these admission criteria in mind!
Did you accept your offer?

No they didn't! But it says the first part about potentially getting my second choice even thought that's the only program I applied for. So you're sure you never out that as another program choice? If you didn't I would just phone the admissions office for sure.
