Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

I received my Trent offer letter this afternoon. Still waiting on Western.

Trying to decide between york and UofT for the nursing programs. Really confused, does anyone have any insight about the york program and how it works.

Thank you in advance! :)

I received a conditional offer to Mac this afternoon. :) Good luck to everyone!

Congrats everyone. I applied to Trent, UWO and Mac and haven't heard a thing from any of them. No rejection, acceptance or waitlist. Am i alone in this?

Congrats! What was your gpa in your last 2 years if you don't mind me asking :)

You're not alone. I applied to those schools, excluding Mac, and have yet to hear a thing.

Hey everyone, I recently got a conditional offer for Mac and will be giving up my spots for Trent and Humber. My GPA for the last 2 years is 3.7, but my cGPA is only 3.3, so if you're worried about your GPA not being high enough and are still waiting for offers, there's still a chance you can get in c:

If you check this link https://allnurses.com/canada-nursing-programs/accelerated-nursing-york-965129.html you'll see some very informative posts about York's 2nd entry program.

If there's anyone who's currently doing the 2nd entry nursing program at York and is willing to share their experience, please speak up! I'm sure those who just got admitted to the program would be very grateful. :)

Hey guys, I think I got accepted into York today. I don't want to get too excited cause I'm not sure if it's for the accelerated program since I heard they sometimes offer an alternative offer. For those accepted into York second degree program what does the "Program" under the application status say?

Hey!

So I'll just relay some info I got from another forum about York, and from the UofT facebook page.

York:

Clinical in first semester starts in the 6th week of the term (mid-October). Until then you'll have 3 hours of lab every week where nurses teach you the skills you'll need to know. 1st semester placement is in LTC (8h, 1 day per week), 2nd rehab (12h, 1 day per week), 3rd med-surg (8h x2 days per week), 4th community, 5th mental health or paediatrics, and 6th is your integrated (full time) practicum (IP). Apparently you also always get one day off a week.

(This info is from a 2015 forum)

** Also York is on strike so often, and they're currently on day 45 of a strike right now. This was a huge deciding factor for me!

UofT: This is current info from the facebook group

3 days of class mon-wed, and clinical Thursday and Friday. The clinical placements are 8 hour shifts in first year and 12 hours in second year. First year is 5 placements (maternity, geriatrics, med-surg, mental health, and paediatrics) lasting 6 weeks each, and they are automatically assigned (you get to choose in second year). Also you start clinical in your second week of school.

Hope this helps!
