Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

I got accepted to Trent yesterday:) I already was accepted to Queens

Anyone have insight on how to proceed here, any advice on which to choose? I'm leaning more toward Queens

Do you mind sharing your gpa in your last 2 years? Im waiting to hear from Trent.

I did my undergrad there and really liked it! I also know a few people in the nursing program currently and a few that have finished it! I dont know much about Queens but Kingston is a super nice city. I know that may not be the insight you wanted but thought I would give my 2 cents lol.

Hi Guys,

I've been stalking this forum for awhile and decided to join.

I was also accepted into York's 2nd Entry Program (I never tried anywhere else as other schools were too far from home). I'm excited to meet fellow York Students at the Orientation day on september.

If anyone is losing hoping that they haven't been accepted yet, don't lose hope because I read through the forums and saw many people saying their GPA averages was at 3.7+ and above. In terms of my grades I did not have the best, roughly its at 3.0 or probably around 2.90 (not that competitive right, but still managed to get accepted). I don't have any extracurricular activities under my belt. All I did was casper test (which I don't even know my result but probably did well on it to boost my chances on getting accepted). The only thing I think that might have helped my application is applying as a mature student.

For those waiting to hear a reply from their chosen schools, I wish you all the best. Once again, don't lose hope because if someone like me with not such a competitive GPA got in, those people with higher averages still have great chance.

Does anyone know if Queens AST looks at the last 10 credits completed, or the entire cumulative average for all courses completed during undergrad? I have yet to hear from any school, and I am starting to get a little nervous...

Congrats!! that's awesome!! Do you mind sharing your cumulative gpa?

Thanks! My cGPA is 3.64, so nothing extraordinary, but I feel that I did really well on the supplementary application

in my last 2 years i had an 82% average, i think this translates to about 3.4 or so?

thanks for the input!

I know western says their acceptances are around an 83% does anyone know how this translates to a 12 point or 4 point scale?

that's roughly around 10.5 in a 12.0 scale or a 3.8 in a 4.0 scale

I believe Queen's calculates average based on the most recent 42.00 credits plus the 18.00 credits from the pre-reqs (at Queen's half courses are worth 3.0 credits and full courses are 6.00 credits)!

Hey guys, It says i got waitlisted for Humber. I'm just wondering how large of a waitlist these programs make? Do I have a really slim chance of being accepted?

You could call them, and ask where you stand on the waiting list

Hello All,

Does anyone know the employment rates of the different university programs, or at least where to find them? I'm thinking mainly of Queens, Toronto, and Nipissing.

Hi All!

I was recently accepted to Queen's AST!

I was wondering if anyone could clarify the conditional admission statement: it says I must achieve a minimum GPA of 2.7 and successfully complete all courses I am enrolled in. Does this mean my semester GPA must be 2.7 or my cGPA? Not that I am worried at all about hitting a 2.7 but some clarification would be ideal!

Congrats to everyone getting accepted!

Do you mind if I ask what your GPA for your last 2 years are? I'm still waiting on Humber as well, but mine still says No Decision.
