Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

It's fine we are all in the same boat I'm nervous too but we can't do anything and just waiting till the end of April or later, mid May. When school receive the final transcripts.

I know it's too early to be freaking out and stuff but I can't help but start freaking out regardless.

I applied to Western, Queens and UofT with a 3.95 in my last 2 years and only got Western so far.

I don't mind if I don't hear back from Queens but UofT is my top choice!

This post is largely irrelevant but I just felt the compulsion to release some nervous energy

I am waiting for U of T as well and the wait is just brutal í ½í¸ I guess we just have to keep some patience.

I feel ya! I got into Western on Monday and I'm waiting on U of T which is my top choice as well. Last year U of T sent out acceptances every day for the first week or two and of course later on in April, May and June as well. That being said I'm starting to freak out a bit myself, but there is still plenty of time so all of us waiting on U of T should try not to worry :)

I'm just praying for any acceptance at this point. I felt so confident with a 3.7, but now I'm kinda freaking out.

Just got an acceptance email from UofT this morning! I haven't heard from any other schools that I applied to (hoping on Western), so don't give up hope yet there is still tons of time!!

mcpjenn do you mind sharing your GPA of your last 2 years? Maybe they start with the 4.0's and work their way down but even still I feel like the supplementary app has an effect as well.

If only we could trade. I'd take your UofT for my Western LOL!

Hahaha I would LOVE to trade if that was an option hahahaha, and honestly I have never calculated my GPA because it freaks me out too much but I would say my average in the last two years is like an 83? So nothing stellar, I do have research experience, lab volunteering, undergraduate thesis, two exchanges, and volunteer work, and I worked quite hard on the essay portion so I think my supplementary application definitely boosted me there. That's what worries me about Western since they only look at grades I am doubtful of getting an acceptance there however I still have my fingers crossed for Western and for all of you waiting on acceptances!

Guys I just got admitted to York! I really thought I did poorly on my Casper and was worried about not getting in but it turnedvout my results had been enough. I'm absolutely ecstatic right now since this is my first choice! I'm still waiting for Western but will most likely decline it if I get admitted since I don't really want to move.

Currently, my cGPA is at 3.76 (my GPA for the last 2 years is the same.)

Good luck to those still waiting to get admitted!

Hey everyone,

I am really interested in UofT nursing programs and i was wondering if anyone going there could answer a couple of questions. How hard do you find the program, insight to succeed and how hands-on are the clinical placements

thanks

Hey Seaschel,

how do like the UofT program, i did my undergrad at UTM and it is very difficult and competitive. How difficult is the nursing program, are the clinical placements hands-on and any tricks or tips you would recommend.

Thanks :)

I was accepted into York's on Friday with a conditional offer.

I'm waiting on Western's although my GPA is only like 3.72 (with only extra-curriculars such as volunteer Medical First Responder with St. John, public outreach with my local public health department, also had a TAship in final year) and I am graduating with a Bachelor of Public Health.

For anyone who's gotten into York, does your offer letter include a part about transfer credits? Mine says I've been pre-assessed for 90 transfer credits and I have no idea what that's about since I have nothing that could be equivalent to any nursing courses. Is this just because it's a second entry program and they consider the 2 years or degree we've done transfer credits? Anyway congrats to everyone who has an offer and for anyone that doesn't, it's still really early!

I have the same thing. I'm assuming it's because you have the prereqs like Anatomy, etc.
