Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

They definitely consider the supplementary app. Your personal statement and extracurriculars mean just as much as your GPA. Last year I was waitlisted on June 30th and then rejected later in July. I applied with the same stats this year, but improved my personal statement by a lot. My personal statement is what got me in this year (including my GPA and extracurriculars).

My ECs were so far from spectacular, super basic and not extensive. That’s why I’m wondering. I just think they favour 4th years or degree holders over those who only completed part of uni.

they definitely do. They told me that quite aggressively when I once emailed them and they publish it everywhere. Their % of admissions of those below year 4 between opening to 2017 was below 1%. Still tried tho. Only person I've ever heard of in the last few years who got in below 4th year had above average but not phenomenal stats...but was a guy so that may have likely helped (men in nursing quota). (not discrediting the need for men in nursing here; y'all are incredible and we need more of you! <3)

Hey! Has anyone been able to figure out their waitlist position in Western's Compressed TF program? Or does anybody have any idea how large the waitlist might be?

I think most people who received the most recent round of offers have to decide by June 7th, so you might be able to see it by then! I think the final round of offers will be by June 15th!

I'll be turning down my Western offer, so there is one spot that will be opening up! Best of luck! ?

Just got accepted into UofT!

Congratssss!!!!

Congrats to everyone who got into UofT today!! What are your stats if you don't mind answering?

I think someone asked this before but never got an answer, but is it possible to work while doing the compressed nursing program at Western? Is it possible to balance both work and school? Thank you!

I was also accepted yesterday. I had an 84.3% or 3.7/4.0 on the UofT GPA scale and had a lot of diverse work experiences/extra curriculars. In terms of personal statement, I used mine from last year (I was waitlisted last year at UofT) as my base and changed a few things around on it. I did take a course this past semester so my admissions average went up a bit but not by much. Honestly, not too much changed between my applications this year and last year. Maybe it made a difference there is a different person doing the admissions this year?! Different set of eyes looking at things can make a big impact!

I will most likely decline my UofT offer for Western though so hopefully that helps someone out here!!
