Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

I was also accepted yesterday. I had an 84.3% or 3.7/4.0 on the UofT GPA scale and had a lot of diverse work experiences/extra curriculars. In terms of personal statement, I used mine from last year (I was waitlisted last year at UofT) as my base and changed a few things around on it. I did take a course this past semester so my admissions average went up a bit but not by much. Honestly, not too much changed between my applications this year and last year. Maybe it made a difference there is a different person doing the admissions this year?! Different set of eyes looking at things can make a big impact!

I will most likely decline my UofT offer for Western though so hopefully that helps someone out here!!

May I ask why you’re choosing Western over UofT?

For sure!! Honestly it’s more for personal reasons than anything academic. Western is a lot closer to home for me and that’s super important at this point in my life. Plus I’m a UofT alumni and as much as I loved my experience there, I’m excited to go to a different school and new experiences!

Academically speaking they are both great schools with great teaching hospitals. And you get a BScN in about two years time wherever you choose!

I think someone asked this before but never got an answer, but is it possible to work while doing the compressed nursing program at Western? Is it possible to balance both work and school? Thank you!

Hey! I know someone at Western's CTF Nursing program who is working! She is working at a restaurant that opens after 5 so she is able to prioritize and do her studying before then! I'm not sure if she will continue working when placements start.

Does anyone have any insight between Western CTF and Nippising SSP. Thanks ?

Hi Guys! I was placed on the waitlist for Nippising SSP, however, I've accepted my offer at uoft ? When I checked my application status on my Nippising WebAdvisor, it changed from waitlisted to accepted offer elsewhere. Does that mean I will not be considered at all anymore? Kinda confused... any insight will be helpful!

did anyone get any updates on mac? I'm still pending

I’m still pending too. I emailed them asking what it means and if I should be concerned but I haven’t gotten a reply and it’s been 5 days

I’m in the same boat as you that’s why I called them last week. They said it shouldn’t affect your waitlist standing. They will still call the people in their waitlist (in order from first to last ) regardless if they accepted their offer elsewhere!

Congrats to everyone who got into UofT today!! What are your stats if you don't mind answering?

I had a 3.8/4.0 and some volunteer experience at a hospital, soup kitchens and an emergency hostel. Also was involved on exec teams in student unions. So my personal statement was just outlining the skills I learned and how they relate to being a nurse

Hey! I got my offer of acceptance on Friday and my overall GPA was ~3.5/4, and final year GPA was around 3.8. I graduated 4 years ago and have been working at a humanitarian non-profit since then and I focused my personal statement on the professional experience I’ve gained there. Hope that sharing this helps others who are still waiting and worried about their GPA impacting their chances!

Hey did anyone receive UofT offers today?

Anyone know when’s the last day to hear from York? Also do they send out letters on a rolling basis?
