I've decided to bite the bullet and take an online statistics course over the summer. I'm dreading this class so much!! I'm terrible at math and my brain shuts down when given word problems.
I already have a tutor set up that can hopefully get me through it. I kept debating on when to take this class and now I'm feeling so stressed out!! So ready to be done with it! Ugh!
I was wondering if anyone has taken an online statistics course and succeeded?

If you're math-phobic, why would you take a math course at an accelerated summer pace? Why not take it when you have the full semester to devote to learning the material?
I just completed Stats online (full 16 week semester) and I couldn't imagine cramming in all that material into a short, 8 week summer semester. It was a LOT to absorb. And Stats is ALL word problems.
So, you might want to re-think it and take another course instead. I would only recommend a summer Stats course if you're strong in math.

I would NEVER take a math course online. Good luck.

I'd rather get it over with. I'm dedicated, work PT, have support, and no kids. Like I said ill have a tutor... Thanks for you advice though
I understand wanting to get it over with, but at what expense? If you barely get a C, it's not going to help your chances. Just because you have a tutor doesn't guarantee you're going to pass your exams. I'm not trying to be discouraging, but when someone states off the bat that they're math-phobic, it baffles me that an accelerated course would even be considered. Think about your GPA, is it really worth sacrificing to get it over with?
If you do decide to go ahead and take the course, I wish you all the best. I'm very good in math and I found Stats to be quite challenging. I ended up with an A, but I worked hard for that A and this was a 16 week, full semester course. I don't think I would have done so well at an accelerated pace and I'm a very good student. If you're math-phobic and you have issues with word problems, I just see you setting yourself up for frustration. I want you to succeed! :)

I took stats last semester online in 5-6 weeks. It is doable. I now math genius but of you watch the videos and practice the problems you can do it.

I personally would not be comfortable taking it online in such a short amount of time. I could have done so this summer (and I would be done with all my pre reqs) but I decided to wait until the fall so I can do well. I know at my college the online stats is extremely difficult and I have seen 4.0 students struggle. To me, taking it in the summer would be a risk. I understand you want to get it over with but I'd wait and be patient. I'd also do some research and ask past students about the course load etc.

I just took stats this past semester online, and I did end up with an A. It was a lot of work and a lot of time. The calculations are not all that difficult, but knowing what formulas to use is where the complexity came in. I spent a lot (and I mean a lot) of time on stats homework. You just have to know that it is going to be a tough class to get in over the summer, and with it being online you are basically your own teacher. I think it can be done if you are willing to put forth the effort. Good luck!

I took stats in class and thought it was difficult. I received an A, but really worked my butt off for it! Math is not my strongest subject by far, and it stresses me out to even think about doing math. I get al flustered and freaked out for some reason.
With that side note, it's all about how much work and time you are willing to put in. If you want it bad enough it will happen! :)
Keep that tutor on standby......that should really really help. I needed someone showing me how, I could have never done it without that. The hard part wasn't the problems it was setting up them and figuring out which formula to use, after that is was just plugging numbers in calculator! The math portion wasn't bad at all. Good luck!

Online math is not any more difficult than an on campus class IMO. I actually prefer summer math. Since you have to spend hours doing it every single day due to the condensed semester, it's much more immersive and personally, I found it easier to learn than in a full semester. The main thing with online math, and stats especially. Is you HAVE to stay on top of the material and put the time in. If you are not self motivated, you might be better off taking it in class. Math is my worst subject by far, and I still earned an A in Stats because I was determined to do so and put in the effort required. Utilize your teacher, or outside resources as soon as you don't understand something. This is especially imperative in summer. Khan academy has loads of Stats videos. Also, learning the many calculator shortcuts for Stats will save you SO much time, aim to learn those ASAP. They are usually listed in most Stat books, or by your teacher. Don't let people scare you. I am not a math person at all, online Stats is not that bad. You just have to be willing to do the work.

I have no advice, just commiseration. I'm taking stats online over this summer too! Good luck to us both! I think anything is do-able with dedication and a will to succeed, and tutors are awesome!!
