Is anyone working on the online RN to BSN from Texax Tech? Is it really as short and inexpensive as the website makes it sound? Any details or opinions about the program would be appreciated!

i HAVE BEEN WONDERING ABOUT THIS PROGRAM ALSO. I WISH THAT SOMEONE WOULD POST.

hello..all i am half way through this program....last semester my tuition was $3600 this did not include books and those were about $400 or so... i am taking the summer and fall semester then graduating in december. it is 2 semesters and 15 hour each. they stagger the courses so you are taking no more than 9 hours at a time. on class last the entire semester then 2 courses last 5 weeks ...you get done with those and take 2 more 5 week courses...however, for the summer you end up cramming 15 hours in 10 weeks...uggg i am so tired of school i need a break.....now there are lots of papers and some group assignments. you cannot get behind but the teachers are nice and real flexible. over all it has been a good program and experience for me. for the last semester you have the option to replace your elective with a masters level quality in health care course. of course you have to apply and be accepted to the course...i will let you know how that goes. is there any specific questions you have...i would be glad to answer them....

I too am intersted in the Texas Tech program. Do you have to have the traditional pre-req's (A&P I and II), or can you transfer the Excelsior credits?

Thanks!

i had a previous degree and all my pre-req's were taken at a local community college. however, they did accept my asn from ec...i would call the rn to bsn coordinator and ask her ...they are very nice and will help you any way they can. you can see the list of courses they require on the website and they are the traditional courses that most rn to bsn programs require.

I am doing the program at muw.edu. The tuition is 2300/semester. books are 560; out of state fees are waived for online option. they accepted my ADN from excelsior. Good luck.

Great! Thanks for the information. What are some other EC friendly Universities?

Thanks!

Not real sure. I was deciding between MUW and Texas Tech. They are the most affordable EC-friendly that I could find. Several students have opted to do Chamberlain; but I simply could not afford that.

My biggest dilemma is that I took a 4 credit-hour combination A&P I/II class here in Texas. EC accepted it, but I'm wondering which universities would accept it. The BSN is a ways away, but I wanted to have my ducks in a row when I finished so I could keep on 'trucking' so to speak :-)

Other than the pre-req issue, cost is also a big deciding factor! Chamberain I hear is really great, but quite pricey!

I wouldn't have opted for Chamberlain if I hadn't had the tuition reimbursement -- it really is expensive. But my employer paid $9K, and I had another $1800 in scholarship funds. I think I paid for another class out of pocket, so my student loans are very minimal -- less than $10K. It worked well for me, but I always encourage others to explore less expensive options, like this one!! :)

I just returned home from orientation for Texas Tech's RN-BSN program. I agree with the above mentioned tutition (3600/semester). Books I bought online and have run me around $200 so far. I am just starting the program so I can only tell what I know so far. I did all the pre-reqs at my local community college. They had an option to mail your transcripts to them and they would look over them to see what classes you are missing. So far they are wonderful people who deeply care about you and your future. I'll be glad to answer any questions about what I know so far. If you have any questions I would e-mail them or call - they are more than happy to help. I don't know how competitive it is to get in - they didn't give us a number of how many applied/how many accepted.
