Online program recommendations

Published

I am thinking of doing my FNP at Rutgers I live in NJ. Any recommendations for programs in my state or online programs?

Tammy79,

Is this the online medical school you were referring to? Does your online NP school operate along the same format?

Have a good day!

I can't believe that would be used to prove how the medical schools are going online.

Talk about grasping at straws.

Sometime nexty year, Tammy will create a thread called, "Why aren't the physicians treating me like equals when I have an online NP degree" :chuckle

Actually, this is a joke site. Check it out more in detail. It's not real like the distance education program attended by ANPFNPGNP.

Man, there's no way in HELL I would attend a program that required the students to practice pelvic exams on each other!!!

It was just your chosen group of words I found offensive. Sorry. I'm also entititled to my opinion, so I don't need to "chill out." I wouldn't have chosen all of your career choices, but I'm too polite to make statements like the above.

I'm glad you are applauding yourself.

But don't gloat just yet.

The standards are in place, oh yes, but do you think this ensures they are followed?

Huh?

These "standards" are not even verifiable with these schools. It can be in writing all day long, who's going to follow up on it?

For that matter, all these schools are (supposedly) held to the strictest standards (and unfortunately, allnurses doesn't have the kind of smiley I would like to insert here.)

As a former (and future) educator in a NLNAC program, I can tell you that adherence to the standards are monitored regularly. It's all documented, outcomes are analyzed, and there are site visits. Accreditation standards are verifiable. Where is your statement coming from? You have never claimed to have been an educator, so where are you getting your facts from?

And you never answered my question as to why you feel distance/online programs are bad for the profession, when you've gotten your ASN from one, and are about to complete your BSN in one.

Yeah, I heard about that program. Isn't that the same NP program where you don't have to be a RN to get accepted?

It depends on the program, but they do accept "direct entry" students into some of them. Believe it or not, most of the best NP schools are doing this. There is an entire thread on this topic and I'll admit that some of the best NP's who came out of that program came from others areas of medicine...PT's, nutritionists, etc.

This thread has disintegrated into an unprofessional debate.
