Nursing Students School Programs

Hello Everyone,

I am preparing myself to apply for Summer 2018 pacesetter BSN program. We can use this forum for Summer 2018 applicants. I am in the process of taking Hesi exam. I have completed all my prerequisite courses needed for the program.

Little bit about me:

BS in Microbiology in 2005 -GPA (3.05)

MPH degree in Epidemiology in 2012-GPA (3.85)

Associate degree of Science in 2017-GPA (4.0)

Hesi test-will be taking it in August

Working full time with City Health department as an epidemiologist specialist since last five years. I am also a mom of two boys.

Got accepted to MUSC college of nursing program but declined it. Also got accepted to Johns Hopkins Entry into Masters of nursing program for Fall 2017 but had to deffer it to Fall 2018 due to financial circumstances.

Trying to apply for the in-state school due to affordable tuition as well as easy commute.

I really hope i can get into UT Health Science center pacesetter program as it's my first option as it's closest to me as well as it's affordable and one of the best programs in Texas.

Just an update to anyone who wants to know.

Last Friday I was reapplying for the Summer 2018 Session but I was having issues with the application so I emailed admissions about it. I got a call about a day later from the sweetest lady on earth! Hehe, she was one of the registrars for UT in general, not just UTSON. I was asking her about my transcript evaluation and trying to get some information out of her to see why I was denied. She said there was a strong pool of 4.0's this session and that of course they looked at HESI very heavily. I said, "But I retook A&P1 and got an A, did that not boost my GPA up?" Then she said, "Sweet heart the registrar that did your eval didn't even calculate your new grade into your GPA... they saw you were above the standard 3.0 and just pushed your application back to UTSON Admissions." So I retook an anatomy summer class for no reason haha but the good Lord has His reasons. She went on to recalculate my GPA for the Summer 18 application. She also said they do evals for everyone and UTSON is the one that sends them out, but apparently they don't.

Well there ya go.

Hello,

I plan on also applying for Summer 2018 BSN program, I have not taken my HESI yet plan on taking my HESI at the end of December. How was your experience with the HESI Test

I've applied for Summer start as well. Good luck!

Hi, okay so I have desperately been trying to get a hold of someone at UT Health to answer one single question about a pre rec and have not found anyone helpful! Would you mind sharing this lady's name and contact info, it would seriously be so so helpful!!

Hi, I am applying for Summer '18 and all I have left is to take US History I this winter. I took the HESI in November and it went pretty well but I have not taken the time to calculate my GPAs. I got a Bachelors of Science at Oklahoma State a couple years ago and have been finishing the pre recs at Lone Star.

If any one has the name and contact info of someone who was helpful at UT Health and wouldn't mind sharing, you would be a HUGE lifesaver! I am currently enrolled in a course simply because no one at the school will tell me if they will accept a course I already took in Oklahoma. It would save me almost $300 and a ton of stress!

My HESI scores were:

Reading:92%

Grammar: 90%

Vocab:100%

Math:98%

A&P:96%

Cumulative: 95.2%

Good luck everyone!

Hey everyone. I have also applied for the summer 2018 semester. My stats are:

science gpa: 3.79

prerequisite gpa: 3.9

HESI: overall 91.6

Anatomy and physiology: 96

Reading:82

Math:96

Grammer:98

Vocab:86

I'm not too happy with my HESI score (especially reading) but am wondering what you all think the chances of acceptance are?Does UTH release any admission statistics?

Hi everyone, I intend applying for fall 2018 or Spring 2019, can I have suggestions where to take my prerequisites . I had BS Biology some years back. Thanks

Hello @Lolslols if you are in the Dallas area I would go to the Dallas Community Colleges to do your nursing prerequisites. I am currently finishing up my nursing prerequisites at a Dallas community college so much cheaper.

Hi everyone!

I am also applying for the Summer 2018 cohort. I'm doing a History and Chemistry in the Spring but am finished with my prereqs aside from those classes. I just took the HESI on 12/31 and got a 95.6%. My breakdown is below. Did everyone finish applying already?

A&P: 88%

Math: 98%

Vocab: 100%

Grammar: 96%

Reading Comp: 96%

My cumulative GPA so far (without this history): 3.63

My science GPA so far (without chem): 3.84

I have a BA in PoliSci and am making a total career shift so I've been studying / working on prereqs for the last 3 years. It feels pretty awesome to be so close to the end of this part of the process. Now for the hard part: getting in!

Applied for Summer 2018 & I am so excited to begin this journey with all of you!

My HESI scores are still in my "to do list", as "initiated". I took my test on Dec. 21st under the school's code. Is there anything else we need to do?

Thank you all in advance! :)

Hi all! I also recently applied for UT Health's summer 2018 pacesetter BSN start.

I have taken my HESI in December, sent my transcripts, and finished the application online. I'm kind of worried though, because I haven't heard anything back from them to see where I can check my application status?

Does anyone know what happens after you finish the application and paying the $60 fee? It said I was suppose to get an email with a UTH login, but I haven't received anything. I did send in my application on Christmas Day though so maybe after holidays are over, I will get something?

Good luck to all of us!

I received my UTH login same day I applied (if that helps). Good Luck.
