Specializes in OB.

Hello. I have finally overcome my nerves and joined this site. Over the last few years I have often read the questions and comments, but have been intimidated to join and oh-my gosh actually post something! Well here goes, I have been an OB nurse for over 6 years and am researching MSN on-line programs for nurse educators. I am a little overwhelmed by all the on-line programs available and am curious about any recommendations for some with good reputations and affordable that someone has actually tried. All and any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, OBRN24/7

Hi and welcome to All Nurses. I did my MSN (management and leadership focus) with University of Phoenix online. Yes - it is expensive, but it was quick and except for being labor-intensive, it was still easier than going to a brick and mortar school. They do have an education focus also. Good luck.

I'll be starting MSN with Ed focus later this month through Indiana Wesleyan on line. I've met others through this site who are currently attending this program; perhaps they'll respond!

I attended East Carolina University's MSN-Nursing Education program and graduated a little over a year ago. I highly recommend the program and it is totally online :)

I am currently attending Walden University- due to graduate Spring '07 with MSN- Specialization in Nursing education. I would rate this program as excellent. My job accepts it for tuition reimbursement, and the schools of nursing I am a clinical adjunct also accept it. I am amazed at the amount of information that I have learned, from nursing theory to teaching strategies, and everything in between. The atmosphere is collegiate, professors receptive and supportive (truly a learner-centered environment). The work is individual, but shared. There are weekly discussion you post to, and other papers s well. I have a colleague at work that attended Phoenix, however, she ran into trouble with a "group project" because of scheduling difficulties.

Special to note that the nursing program at Walden is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing education (CCNE), a national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of education.

I recommend that you go to the site and check it out, if you have any other questions email me.

Just a thought, be sure and check out what is available in your state, considering out-of-state tuition. Good Luck!
