I'm searching for a NP program, but am looking for specific things in it.
I would like to find an NP program that does not require campus visits, as well as does not require the GRE to get into it (they go off of application and transcripts instead.)
If I can find a school that have those, I could then research on what the senior project will be and if it will be a program for me.
Any and all insight is welcome.
A bit of background, I've been a nurse for almost 2 years, will be done with my BSN in December from the University of Texas in Arlington. Currently working on a med-surg unit.
Thanks!

You may want to rethink that. It sounds good now, but choosing a quality FNP program requires hands on experience. I went to UTA undergrad and am now in the FNP program at TWU. A lot of their classes are online but they also require you to come in since they have simulation labs and check offs. I'm a kinesthetic learner so this is invaluable to me. You should really think about this decision and not go with the easiest route just because it sounded good at the time. Good luck.
Do you know how the ACNP program compares? I emailed the director since I went to UTA to finish my BSN, and she said students have to come multiple times a semester.
I know that the on campus family and psych program require multiple visits per class. I have a friend in the on campus psych program and she is there at least every other week. At this time they only have the family as an online program.
My program was entirely online. I graduated from Indiana State University in Dec 2013, and felt very well prepared for my work as NP after graduation. They do have optional sessions that you can attend for skills, but they are not mandatory. All of the hands-on and skills checks were done through clinical time (they do require more hours than other schools) and are very strict on what type of hours you can use. They require a set number for adult, geri, gyn, ob, peds, etc. If you do find a school that is completely online, you can always look in your home state for opportunities to improve your skills (suturing classes, volunteer to help with prostate exams, fairs/community outreach that offer free health care etc)... Good luck!

I spoke with the director a few weeks ago because I finished my BSN through UTA(I live in South Carolina). She said they will admit students who live in compact states, but travel to campus is required at least a few times a semester, even for their "online" versions of the NP programs. All actual coursework is done online, but you must come for check-offs that cannot be submitted by video.
