I need advice on the "online" Excelsior LPN to RN thru Rue Education. Has anyone gone through the program, would you recommend it, is it any good, etc. I am an LPN and was put on the wait list for the second time and I am not waiting another year. Any advice would be helpful, I am worried about spending too much money, is it worth it, etc. Thank You all :bowingpur

I am finishing up my LPN to Rn through Excelsior and did not use Rue or College Network or Chancellor's or ANY of the publishing companies.
Go directly through Excelsior. If you are an LPN you WILL be accepted. Spend your money on practice tests, textbooks, and the CPNE workshop at the end.
And good luck!

So does Rue just add on more books, fees and study guides, etc. to get more of your $$$?

There are a number of older threads here about folks' experiences with RUE. Please do a search and review the info and opinions before you make a decision -- it will be well worth your time.
(Also, moving this thread to the Distance Learning forum, since that is the topic.)
Yup.
Now, certain schools do require that one use a specific publishing company. Excelsior is not one of them.

Click on this link and browse. You'll find many, many posts on your very topic.
Just an FYI... Suesquatch is a student in this program and knows it intimately. She is a wonderful source of information on this particular program.
You can use the grey "Search" button in the upper right hand of the screen to do a search, and just use "RUE" as your search term. You'll get links to lots of threads.

I currently was looking into LPN to ADN online. First the college network called, Total cost they gave me $14,000. I went straight through excelsior and they gave me a total cost of $11,000 (pre req's and all) so I think i've made my choice. However, I'm still worried about going through online courses because they're not recognized in MD or CA.

Unless you anticipate moving to CA or MD, this should not deter you. And BTW, those states could change their policies by the time you decide to go to either of these states. You could probably save money by taking your prerequisite and corequisite courses at your local community college and transferring them to Excelsior.
