Hello!
I have a quick question somebody out there may know about...has anyone ever heard of http://www.nursingassistant.us? It is apparently through St. Augustine online. Just curious if anyone had any experience with it. Thank you!

I've never heard of it but I think I would be leary. I think in order to be a good CNA you need "hands on" experience.

And don't forget to check with the BON in your state. I believe in mine you have to have so many clinical hours to sit the state exam.

My gut feeling regarding online courses if you have never had any nursing experience is that you won't be doing yourself any favors, even though I am certain the school will make their program sound like the answer to your prayers.
You can't beat hands on and interpersonal interaction.

How do you learn body mechanics, transfers, positioning off the internet? You need a body and a mechanical lift last time I checked, not everybody has one of those around the house???:chuckle

why spend thousands of dollars for a CNA course when you can go to a nursing home and get certified there? It made plenty of sense to me when my friend discouraged me from going to school to become a CNA. I went to the nursing home and enrolled in that program and received my certification 4 months later. Plus you can make money while you are learning your skills

I remember my CNA course, which I took at a nursing home. It was all very nice. However, what I learned on the floor was the knowledge I needed. If I had taken a course online, I'd have quit my job in 20 minutes. And at least in AZ, you have to have a certain number of hours of clinical time before you can take the test. I think it's 180. Maybe.
