You will find that most online classes are self-taught and include a lot of information. So if you can teach yourself information, then it is a convenient option not necessarily an easier option. By the way, make sure the schools you wish to apply to will accept online science courses. Some do, but many do not. Good luck.

I agree that online classes are self taught. I am a little skeptical about taking science classes online. I would rather take them in person because I would want to be there in person. But it is different for each person. Maybe you could start with taking English and other pre-reqs online to see how it goes first.
Thanks that is very helpful information.

Hi newmom jb123,
I ama stayat home mom in Texas. I can relate to your problem. I tookmany classes on line, but not any science courses. Many universities and faculty frown on online science courses. The classes I took online were English, Psychology, and Human growth and Development. Got As in all of them. The best part of taking online courses is you can eat or drink in class, and no one stares at you if you show up in you underwear. The kids also liked having mommy close by.
My reccomendation to you is to take as many of your non-science classes online and save your science courses for when you can find daycare for your child. By then you will be ready for the excessive amount of studying needed for anatomyand physiology. Do what I did: Buy your anatomy book and study guide and lab manual and any "anatomy for dummies" or "Anatomy the easy way" books you can find. Stay at home and READ them. Then, when your child is old enough for preschool or daycare you will have a leg up when you enroll in your anatomy class. The extra time you spend reading before you begin taking anatomy will really help you in the actual class. Take all your nonscience classes online first. build your GPA to a really good level, andThen take anatomy when your kid is older. Youwill be a better student by then, and you will be ready to do well in anatomy.

I have taken many classes online (undergrad, graduate) and throughly enjoyed them. I am a reader and learn best on my own, so this type of learning is great for me.
Start with Psych, Dev Psych and English. They work well online and are great way to get your feet wet. I've never found online classes "hard" but you MUST be self-motivated and prepared for the large amounts of busy work they throw at you.
Make sure your school will accept online science or math classes before you take them that wasy. Some only are that they have a proper lab. Some won't accept them at all.

I cannot see myselft taking online classes, specially science class. The best way for me to learn is to hear the information several times, that is why I always tape lectures in all my science courses. Online classes work for some people who can study independently, for me I prefer to go to class. Good luck to you.

I took A&P 1 and 2 online through a local community college so I never had to worry if it would be "accepted" or not. I loved it! I think most lecture classes are a waste of time when you could be at home learning the material yourself. The professor gave you objectives you read about them yourself and if you had questions you asked. I had a small child at home and easily worked out my readings with his nap/bedtime schedule and lab was once a month on Saturdays so that was easy to schedule. I know so many people that hated their A&P experience and wished they had done it online after hearing my experience.
Now a word of caution- if you do not have a strong sense of self-discipline or motivation then this is NOT for you. Most of my class made As -this was after HALF of the class dropped because they did not have the discipline to keep up. Good luck with whatever you decide and PM me if you have questions!

I took both Anatomy & Physiology I and II online. It was very hard, but I learned a lot because I had to teach it to myself. The only class contact was one day during the semester where we traveled to the college for all day labs. We had to complete labs at home and type up lab reports and send them to the instructor. Tests were proctored with no assistance (in other words, no books, no notes, etc.). If you learn well by teaching yourself it is a great way to go otherwise I don't recommend it at all. I made an A in both, but I only took these classes with 1 or 2 classes in addition. This class is loaded with information, info you will want to retain so weigh this carefully. I hope this helped.

I've taken a few online courses and did well, but I'd never taken A&P online. I know I wouldn't be able to teach myself such a hard subject; I need the instruction of a professor. If you can, get your other classes done online now, so you can take your sciences at the actual college. Whatever you decide, good luck!
