online BSN- no proctored exams

Hello,

I recently tried 's RN-BSN program and had such severe test anxiety I had to drop out. It has been 20 years since my ADN and I am wondering if anyone knows of an online RN-BSN program that does not have tests. I did fine with biochem online and am very good with papers, power points, and projects. I think I was hoping that the BSN would be more theory based and less testing. Any advice on programs would be greatly appreciated.

DeeAngel - thank you for your opinion. Perhaps you should learn how to spell accredited before you insult my intelligence and my nursing practice.

You need to work on the mental issue before you try to work on the scholastic issue. I know of no accredditerd nursing shool that would provide what you seem to think is acceptable. I do not want a nurse taking care of me who attended school under the conditions you seek.

I think you might find that a vast majority of accredited post-licensure programs (such as what the OP is asking about — RN to BSN) are primary composed of online discussions, presentations, and papers with very few formal tests.

If you have an identified disability such as GAD, you are entitled to accommodations. For example, extended or unlimited test time, private testing room, visit test site and walk through the testing procedure prior to test etc. So contact the disability resource center at the school and see if they can help.

I am doing an MSN all online, same as my RN-BSN was. No tests, but not easy by any stretch. I am doing Informatics so I don't know what the other programs are like. very difficult data analytics programs and software to learn.

I think many schools are going the online route and online is not condusive to testing. You can assess w/o testing.

Ignore that one. Being able to pass tests does not make you a better nurse. I developed terrible test anxiety in nursing school and ended up have to take meds to test. I ended up a nurse, obviously, but now I find the approach of teamwork and critical thinking exercises to be much better at being a nurse and problem solving. There are plenty of GREAT programs that do not have tests. Some things are knowledge based, like a foreign language, maybe some of the statistics classes. You can do this!!!!!!!

It cost $18,000 for completely online RN-BSN, out-of-state, done in 13 months, pricey but with my local school it was going to take me 3 years to get it done. My job reimbursed $6000 so I'm stuck paying 12,000 out of my pocket...

And how would you know if this were the case? Is there some magical way you'd be able to tell?

I completed an RN-BSN online program at an in-state university. The actual BSN program had no tests. We had weekly online discussions, group projects, research papers, and assigned readings.

I had a couple of non-nursing classes that were proctored online. I sat at my home office with a webcam pointed at me and did the thing. And some classes used the lock-down browser. No big deal.

Good luck!

Hello mmc51264,

I live in NC too. I am looking for the online programs in health informatics. I would like to know where are you enrolled for your informatics (MSN)? How is it? I appreciate your reply. Thanks!!

I just graduated in May with my BSN from SNHU. They do not have any exams or quizzes. I find that i can showcase my knowledge better through projects and discussions. They require you to complete discussion posts weekly, respond to two of your peers and complete a section of your final project called a milestone. The milestones are usually 2-3 pages. At the end of each class there is a final project which is a culmination of all your milestones put together. At the end of the BSN program there is a capstone project which is a culmination of all of your work throughout your BSN which you save as you go a long through your courses. I did not have any issues throughout my BSN and the school was really willing to work with me around my schedule conflicts ect. I would recommend the BSN program to anyone that has any sort of testing issues.

This is great for school, but what about the NCLEX?

This is not a prelicensure program, it's an RN to BSN. You won't find a BSN program that is 100% online without clinicals.
