I am just now realizing how FAR a drive I have ahead of me--- 5.5 hrs. As Opposed to Albany which is only 3.5 hrs. Should I decline my date and ask for Albany only? Not sure I want to drive that far alone, but I don't want anyone to go with me. Maybe I can take a train? Any words of advice from Syracuse testers???

Sorry that I can offer no advice on Syracuse, but I drove 7+ hours from Minnesota to Madison WI for my CPNE, and it was still worth it. I had my 20 year old son with for the ride (actually he did most of the driving), and that made all the difference in the world. Is there no one at all that could go with you? I spend a lot of time on the road, but the stress of the weekend would have been too much for me to handle alone. I would suggest the train if that is in option. Good luck!!
Loops! Thanks! I'm not sure I really want anyone there....I really need to focus when I am there and In one way it would be nice, but in another I feel like it would stress me out more. Maybe the drive alone will be good for me to think, haha. It's a straight shot from my house, just Looong. I hope there is a good discount with the hotel rates, it's pretty $$ out there!

I drove 6 hours from Virginia to Mansfield for my CPNE. Listened to myself saying my mnemonics on a tape recorder the whole way. Haha. Was so sick of myself by the time I arrived!
hahaha well, I just called to book my room and NONE are available in Syracuse with a discounted rate. I can't afford to pay the actual rate, plus gas and rental car to drive out....I'm holding out for Albany:uhoh3: I think it's the right thing to do. I'm not rushing this at all so if they have to psuh it off a week or 2 or 3 just to get into Albany that's fine. So bummed....
Oh an NO discounted rooms....if I paid normal rate it's 250.00 per night--omg..and I need 3 nights. I hate to decline, but I think I have to.

Have you tried priceline.com ?? I always "name my own price" & pick which part of town, and hotel star rating. When I took my NCLEX-PN in Jan. I paid $44 (tax included) for a one bedroom/suite in Madison, WI. It's pretty cool to see how they look when you check in & see what you paid ! (the best price on this room was 119.00 on their web-site). Good luck !! I hate to drive, too and would probably put it off, just for that alone. :-)
I won'tmid the drive if that's all they have,I'll have to find another hotel then. I just want to see if they have that same weekend at Albany or even the weekend after that. Guess when I filled out my app I should have JUST put albany:(

Albany may be better for you considering there is a few hospitals in Albany plus its bigger than Syracuse (guessing capitol status makes it bigger and busier than college town.)
I am holding out for Grady in Atlanta....scared of Southern Regional in Atlanta. I need to be able to fly in, get a taxi or whatever to my hotel and to and from the hospital (no driving for me). The downside is that downtown Atlanta hotels are super high in price (like $149 for the hotel I am choosing). But location, amenities and hotel restaurants are important to me because I will be alone, terrified and would rather not leave the hotel unless its for the CPNE. Room service was a big plus for me too.
I cancelled by Syracuse date and am holding out for Albany--hope to hear by next week...I just hope the date isn't really far away. I would like to take the board before Christmas--haha
Holding out for Utica now too--haha I just want a date--I have to plan time off etc!

I just booked for Albany in Sept for $109 a night across from hospital, $250 for Syracuse! Ouch!
If I don't pass I'm going to Atlanta next time. I took Sherry's workshop and flew down there. Getting there, renting a car and getting a hotel was easy and affordable. I really liked Atlanta too. Good luck with your Albany date!
