OMG...I Love AN!!!!

I have seen so many posts on here where people are complaining about all of the negative posts, and while they do exist, I have also found so much humor on here as well. If I am having an especially hard day many times I find myself laughing hysterically at some of the things I read on here. So, to all of you who bring your whitty personalities and fun sense of humor to the threads of AN - THANK YOU!!;)

I know this is supposed to be a praise AN thread, but I would love to give a personal 'kudos' to xtxrn as well.

I would like to thank you for 'sticking up' for me. That probably wasn't your intent but that's is how I perceived it. Your action did wonders for me especially when I was expressing an opposite and unpopular opinion, along with everyone ganging (although bullies never think they're doing anything hurtful) up on me, and feeling like I may never venture out into the non-nursing threads again. XTXRN, you're one of my faves too!!

I agree with the previous posters, AN has a wealth of information and it overshadows the negativity. I guess AN has its days.

While visiting another forum, I found that AN has a reputation. The comment, "Let's go AN on this guy and kick him out of the forum," was comical.

I agree with you 100%! While expressing an opinion...actually - not even an opinion but my feelings (which is worse!) here on AN, I was absolutely skewered by a few folks. xtxrn stuck up for me too as did divarn and a few others, and it was much needed to soothe my wounded ego and pride! I would find myself tearing up at some of the responses wondering why I was crying about people's opinion who did not even know me and were taking my comments and completely twisting them? But words hurt. Then again, I think I will grow that much needed 'Thicker Skin' by being here, and I am the first to admit that I need that.

I find that MOST people here on AN are really very nice people who while they might have some negative things to say, in general are supportive of other nurses, new grads, nursing students, pre-nursing students, etc... The few who never have anything nice to say are thankfully not as many as the kind ones, but they are very vocal so sometimes it can seem so.

So yes, this is still and I love AN thread, and I do. But I love it warts and all - which takes a little time to get used to. SO I agree with the OP that AN is an awesome place, but I also agree with the others who've said that there can be hurtful and hateful things here too...Thankfully, I do think the good far outweighs the bad and I'm glad that there is a place like this to learn...

Just like they say, there is a bad apple in every barrel. I have decided to not judge, nor try to take anything personal on here because one day I will also be an RN and may "vent" on here as well. How does the saying go..."never judge until you have walked a mile in their shoes"?? or something like that. All in all this forum has been priceless. Yes, there have been those times I have been "put in my place", but looking back I probably needed to be. Nursing is one tough profession-God bless you all for sticking with it!:heartbeat

I'm literally crying y'all. Thank you SO much.... you have no idea what this means to me. :) It's so hard to lose something that is so much of my identity....and to still be seen as worth something in the nursing field is huge. :) Thank you :D

Everything happens for a reason. Maybe your new role is to guide others through their 'stuff' and to keep new nurses from being eaten alive on AN :lol2:.

Seriously though, i truly enjoy reading your opinions and have appreciated so many of your posts. I certainly hope you are feeling better soon. It is so nice to read from a long time nurse who isn't jaded and negative, but full of life and positive reinforcement. So thank you!:D

Xtxrn - Well, you have shown so much compassion in such a short time, your love for nursing is felt through your words. Just as another poster said- everything happens for a reason. God my close one door, but will then open another. It looks like your new job is to mentor those of us just beginning our journey! Yea for us:yeah: I for one am looking forward to your support during my journey.
