I'm sick and tired of the older nurses vs younger nurses crap. We all have the same damn degree and we do the same damn work. I was at work the other day and two senior nurses were in the break room bragging about how when they were in nursing school they had to work so much harder than nowadays and yadda yadda yaaaa. In my head I said, " whatever *****, I worked hard for my degree. Please don't discredit me, and just because my NCLEX test was computerized doesn't make it easier. Half of these old broads in my facility can't even charge their cellphone without my help I could imagine them taking the boards using a computer" sry people I just needed to vent. We nurses can sometimes be our own worst enemy. Forget the docs and administration, we love to knock down the newbie so that we can feel better about ourselves. Stop the madness people

I can't figure out which group I'm in. Most people who have worked with me will tell you I'm 38 going on 12 so, IDK what to say.
No you're a younger nurse, the difference is years experience as opposed to age. 20+ years experiece is the cutoff, lol

When I realised I'd become part of the geezerboomer generation I started measuring my age on the Celsius scale, making me roughly 13!

I am so with you on this subject, it happens all the time, like I say nurses eat their young, it is rare to find a supportive envirnment I mean read these posts half the time they are bitter and mean, condescending, ridiculing posing as know it alls, I find that many times too many of these people require their whole self-esteem from their career, with little else in their life to validate them........ ugly? miserable? unhappily married? losers for kids? IDK just saying. Lol I dont ever get stressed about this sect of the field, I do my job, I do it well and I laugh inside and sometimes right out load at the person irritating me and lastly I always just feel sorry for them that their job is all they have to give them self worth, take care keep smiling and laughing!

I'm definitely in the younger nurses group. Most of the nurses I work with have more experience than me. Not that many in the older nurses group though. I feel everyone has something to bring to the table.
How did you surmise all of that from a differing opinion ?
You didn't mention the jealous thing because the young nurses are slim and beautiful
Sheesh

ooops double post
Lol pedicurn, not all of the young ones are slim and beautiful, see what I mean about everyone being snarky? No wonder nurses have a bad rep and have trouble gaining respect as a profession, It is what it is, anyone is welcome to pick things apart on these posts to feel better or smarter or gain whatever satisfaction they need, I however like to offer a lil empathy or help if it is in my ability to do so:)
