It's likely that your state board of nursing has issued a position statement on this. The unit's policies and procedures should also be consulted. On my unit, it's two RN's, but we don't employ LVN's.
In MO LPN plus RN can verify, but RN has to spike the bag. LPN can then monitor. Makes no freaking sense. I'm not competent to spike a bag of blood but I'm competent to monitor for a transfusion reaction?

Also, can two LPNs verify with each other?
