I take Tegretol and over 8 is too high for me so I'm assuming 10 would be too high for a child.3. Corpus means body of uterus so seems to me it would me the whole thing but that isn't an option here so I'm not sure. ????4. c. My husband is newly diagnosed and the new guidelines given to him were less than 90 was low blood sugar. steph

Everytime I've checked myself it's been lower.Do diabetics have a differing definition than the rest of us? Perhaps because they are on hypoglemic meds/insulin they need to get a heads up when they are below 90 rather than wait until they are 60.

May 28, 2005 1. = 2 Rational- Parents are concerned especially about seizures that might go undetected at night time. The nurse needs to decrease parental overprotection and should suggest the use of a baby monitor for nighttime. Options a and c identify parental understanding of the disorder. Option d is a common concern. The parents need to be reminded that as the child grows, they cannot always observe their child but that their knowledge of seizure activity and care are appropriate to minimize complications.2. = 4 Rational- When carbamazepine is administered, blood level samples need to be drawn periodically to check for the child's absorption of the medication. The amount of the medication prescribed is based on the blood level achieved. The therapeutic serum range of carbamazepine is 5-12 mcg/mL. The nurse would anticipate that the physician would continue the presently prescribed dosage.3. = 2 Rational- The uterus has three divisions: the corpus, isthmus, and the cervix. Special precautions need to be taken if I'm near water be it bathing or swimming. Just because the child is involved in a swim program with neighbors and friends does not mean precautions are being taken. I would want to question the parents further. Do the neighbors and friends know about the seizure disorder? Do any of them know CPR or how to activiate EMS? Do any of them know how to take care of someone having a seizure? My husband and I are one of those co-sleeping families. All our kids at one time or another slept with us. Our son, who is almost 4 still sleeps with us. Dr. Sears is a big advocate of the family bed. Having a child in your room is not necessarily born of overprotectiveness. So, you see . . . . I hate NCLEX questions. :) Plus, my husband was told not to let his blood sugar get below 90. Go figure.steph
