Hi everyone! I just wanted to update those of you who I talk to or those who PM me and give me encouragement all the time. Anywho, I am going to start my NCLEX preperation THIS coming Monday (9/12). I have devised my own study plan and I'm going to tackle it HEAD on. I'm giving it 110% and if it doesn't work I'm done damnit cause I will have tried everything.
For those of you who don't know me I'm preparing to take the NCLEX for the 4th (and final) time. So, like I said the studying begins THIS Monday with the forcasted date of 11/21 for taking the NCLEX.
I gave myself weekends off from studying because that is the only days for "family time" where my husband, daughter and I can spend the whole day together with just ourselves or with other family and friends.
Wish me luck!
Brandi :)
Thank you so much! I will defiantly let you know if I need anything.Brandi, soon-to-be
Brandi,
I'm with you on this one! I have failed the first one and I told myself that I will make it the second time. I have been studying (utilizing Suzanne's plan together with my own plan).. I have been doing this for about 2 weeks now, I must say though that for the past week I have been slacking off (meaning losing focus)...I have so many things to do at home and with my kids...I just couldn't stay focus but I try t do at least 2-4 hours studying a day (with breaks in between). I am actually following my plan at this time (devoting 4 weeks of it)..I'm reading a review book that has 50-70 practice questions at the end of each unit and I read their rationale too..So far I have been scoring 60-70%. After my 4th week with my plan, I will start with Suzanne's. I intend to retake the board 3rd week of October. I also promised myself that starting this Monday, I will remain focus....forget about chores...I'll delegate house works to my husband....Moving to CA is soo distracting...It's good that our family is here but there's just too many things going on all the time...So much distractions! But, I really want to pass this time...So, what's your study plan?
Brandi, are you going to do Saunders questions? ( if you don't mind me asking)
Margo - Yes, part of my study plan includes questions from the Saunders CD that I got when I purchased my Saunders book during my 3rd NCLEX attempt. I'm also going to be doing questions from a new book I purchased along with Mosby CAT that I'm going to purchase at the end of October.
I have used Saunders before I I also do very well with there questions. I completed the whole book the last time I attempted the NCLEX and barley got any questions wrong. And yes I read the rationales for right and wrong answers.
Mye614 - Hey there! I have devised my own study plan that takes into consideration two other study plans that I have received from two other people on the board. I'm basically do a mini review of some content matter just because I haven't been in school for the past two years so I just want to give myself a little refresher, but my main focus will be doing all the questions from the review book along with questions from Saunders CD and reviewing all the questions and rationales both right and wrong. I will also be purchasing the Mosby CAT online to see how my % is for passing the boards.
Best of luck to you. Hang in there and if you ever need an ear to listen give me a PM!
Brandi :)
Brandi-BEST OF LUCK to both of us. Hoepfully our strategies will work wonders for us this time. Keep us updated on how your studying is doing, I'l do the same as well...

Brandi,
Good luck! Sounds like you got your plan in motion and ready to tackle it! I want to celebrate with you when you find out you passed in November!!
Just one thing that came to mind. I did the, take off the weekend to be with my family thing and after 2 weekends I realized it didn't work. On monday I wasn't focused and it would take me until tuesday to refocus myself because I had taken 2 days off. So after that on the weekend, I would study for one hour. Usually review my hand written notes, or do maybe 75 questions. Just something on saturday and sunday. It may work for you but just to give you heads up.
Good luck!

Tiff - I will defiantly do that. I really only planned on taking Saturday off to spend the WHOLE day with my family and/or friends. I was planning to make Sunday "catch-up" day.
