Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi guys,

I have completed school, graduated with high honors 3.8 GPA, Dean's list, President's list, leadership distinction, speak and am fluent in 3 languages, computer savvy great reviews, letters of recommendations from professors and unit managers from when I was on my clinicals... And no job! My resume is good, has been reviews 3 times, with a cover letter, starting ACLS PALS out of pocket to see of it draws interest.

Have 3 promises, but have been told there is a new grad hiring freeze, although they are paying 2,500 for relocation and 5,000 bonus for experienced 1+ year nurses

I guess God has something good cooking for me and slow roasted tastes best!

Have faith you will find something. I graduated last year August09 and I finally got a job after searching for one year. I know the feeling. Its not easy. I wish someone told us about the experience requirement when we were in college. I worked as Volunteer in one of hospitals for 6 month. I would recommend not giving up. Keep looking and have faith and ask your friends who are working as RNs

Good luck

I know how you guys feel, I'm in the same boat. I gave up on getting a hospital based job. I took a home health position, and absolutely dread it. I just was talking to one of the people I graduated with and he works in a skilled nursing facility and loves it. It's not what I want to do but I put in an app. and hopefully I get the job, so I can quit my home health position. I've put out around 200 hospital applications and not even one call. It's really discouraging. If you had really good grades in nursing school, apply to internships. Unfortunately I fall short to even apply by .08 on my GPA. Best of luck everyone! I just keep hoping this job market turns around fast!

I know exactly how you feel! Oh the self loathing and feelings of inadequacy. The endless chain of rejection responses to the jobs that you are qualified for if only given one chance, at least one interview. THAT'S I ASK!!!

Yep, that was me for 6 months and then I tried something totally unconventional. I had to accept the fact that maybe the hospital was not for me. So I browsed Craigslist in the medical/ health job postings section. Well low and behold a well known nursing facility just 4 miles away from my home and paying me 4 dollars more than the hospital job that I coveted has hired me. I start on Nov 29th and I'm so excited!! Fulltime, with benefits, AMEN!

God does have something good in store for you, just search outside the box. A nursing facility wasn't my first choice, however I am going to use this as a stepping stone and it is after all helping me to gain experience towards that one year experience goal. I'm totally keeping an opened mind, this may become my home. I don't know what God has in store for me.

Don't give up and you are in my prayers :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Ok you gave me a little hope, it is so frustating to finish school pass NCLEX and no one will even talk to me about a job. Yikes I am at my wits end, I need a job
