Ok, I know I can't be alone... who loves NS?

Nursing Students General Students

With all the complaining and venting about NS going on, I feel like its time to turn the tables.... I love nursing school! Of course its never fun to be swamped with assignments, papers, and exams. I have certainly encountered some students who seem like they havent absorbed anything theyve been taught, and a few nurses who dont seem to care much for students.

But in general, I feel like Im learning a ton, my instructors have all been incredibly supportive and very much available for any kind of help anyone might need. I have never felt like I was thrown into something I was not taught how to handle, and have always had support in practicing skills for the first, second, third time, etc. I have not encountered any nightmare profs or instructors (ok a few profs cant give a good lecture to save their life- thank God for good textbooks!), and my marks are great. I really feel like they are there to give me good advice, and support me in my learning and in becoming a good nurse. I love the work I do in clinicals and I have been so reassured that I made the right decision to go back to school- I feel like I was made to be nurse!

Anyone else?

(and does anyone know why when I try to use an apostrophe in these reply boxes, I instead get a box pop up that says "Quick find (links only)" )

I'm with you too... I love it! It is hard and I can't wait for it to be over but it being difficult was expected.

it all depends on the teachers. Unfortunately, I have NOT liked most of my NS experience. But this is my last semester and I finally have a great teacher! What a difference that makes!

I love it too...maybe we are gluttons for punishment?! I enjoy nearly all of my time at school and at clinicals. I think it's challenging and totally engaging. Nursing school should be hard...the profession of nursing isn't easy and we don't want people becoming RNs that are just sliding by during college (at least I don't want them as my nurse if I'm in the hospital).

The only real negative I have run into so far is being stuck in a group with a student who has absolutly no clue what is going on, and this student relies heavily on everyone else to explain things over and over again. That part is frustrating.

I'm only on the doorstep, so to speak. I'm taking nursing pharmacology & pathophysiology at my school, but they require you take those before the clinical program, which won't start for me until this fall.

But so far I'm absolutely head over heels in love with my fascinating classes, my incredibly helpful professors, my generous fellow students, and on top of all this the CNA job & hospice volunteer work of my dreams. I am one lucky cookie.

I'm enjoying being in nursing school - it's definitely work, but it's also well worth it.

I'm loving it. The classes seem to come somewhat naturally to me, the clinic instructors are incredibly supportive, and clinic is great.

I love nursing school.

Just because people have a vent here and there don't extrapolate that into not loving it. I figure if I am not finding some things challenging then I am not trying herd enough or caring enough about the results.

I think a huge part of nursing school is learning flexibility and getting your own "stuff" out of the way in order to learn.

I wouldn't do anything else.
