OHSU's ABSN-MSN/DNP 2018 Applicants

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to start a forum for all who applied to OHSU's ABSN-MSN/DNP program for 2018-2019. I thought it could be helpful to stay updated with interviews, admission decisions, or sharing stats in order to improve applications the following year.

I applied for the Psych ABSN-DNP Track!

Does anyone know if they've sent out the last interviews for the absn to cnm/dnp?

Hi everyone! I applied for ABSN to PMHNP as well and haven't heard anything. From what others have said here it seems they are giving interview invites with less than 2 weeks notice...so those who will be interviewed on the 13th might find out by next week - just a guess on my part.

Anyone know if they send out rejection emails too?

In past years, it didn't appear that they did. You just didn't hear, unfortunately.

I would just email/call them and ask. Unless anyone else has emailed or called, they're not going to know.

That's the purpose of asking, to see if it was done, I thought that was the entire reason for these threads....to ask questions and share information. And I wouldn't know if someone did it, unless the question is asked....hence me asking.

It is, and I'm giving you the best advice I can. My response was not a personal attack or affront to you. If people knew that calls were over for a particular program, it seems highly likely that they'd comment on here and let others know so that people are as well-informed as they can be. For instance, I emailed admissions about the FNP interview invites and they told me they were going to be sent out next week. I posted on here about that because I knew about it and thought it could be helpful to others. Everyone seems to be REALLY willing to help other people with info. Since no one has commented about it on this or any of the other threads, it appears that they probably don't know, either because admissions hasn't told them or because no one has asked. Therefore, I'm recommending you contact admissions because that is the clearest/quickest way you're going to get an answer. It seems much easier and less anxiety-inducing to do that than to wait for someone on the forum to know, but hey, to each their own.

I am thinking (/hoping) that they'll do a round of calls and emails to fill up the Feb 6/7 interviews (not just the 13th interview slots) for the PMHNP program this week. It seems like folks are hearing about things the week or so before so I think there is still time!

When I talked with admissions last year they said about 24 people applied to the accelerated PMHNP program and they accepted 11 people. I don't know how many people applied this year but I would think the majority of folks would at least get an interview.

Wow, that's fascinating! I've heard from a couple people that the direct entry programs have better odds than the solo ABSN programs, but that's a GIGANTIC difference. I bet that unfortunately more people apply to the FNP program than PMHNP so my odds aren't that good, but this is really good information to have. Wishing you the best of luck!

Those of you who have interviewed, what materials did you bring to the interview? I'm thinking work and academic CV, letters of recommendation. What else did you find helpful?

Were the questions mostly standard interview fare or did they ask any curveball questions, like some companies and schools are doing to measure creativity and confidence?

My hands are sweating as I think more about this, but its good to know that, at least last year, there was a 50% acceptance rate for the ABSN PMHNP program. I am still sending good luck vibes to you all.

Seems like a lot of programs have staggered interview dates, so likely staggered emails. I also read on other threads about OHSU's programs that of those who are waitlisted, several get in for their targeted semester, so I am trying not to be too anxious about this.

Super good news for anyone still waiting on CNM news (I have one friend who has heard and another who hasn't) but holy cow, they're cutting this close to interview dates!

I emailed OHSU for numbers on the FNP program. Apparently about 100 people applied for 6 spots last year. Talk about nerve-wracking.

Yeah, they said in the email that they wouldn't say how many applicants there were but it's my understanding that the Midwifery program is one of the most popular programs.
