OHSU Monmouth 2014

Hi there! I just found out today that I will be joining the Fall 2014 OHSU-Monmouth cohort! I was hoping to connect with other people that are starting in the fall as well. I will be commuting from Brownsville.

I am so excited!

Where else have you applied to? Is this your first time applying? Will you be accepting the offer to attend?

I applied to Chemeketa and Clackamas, as well. This is my first year applying. If I am accepted at Chemeketa, I will likely go there because I'd prefer taking out 1 year of loans vs. 3! As it stands, though, it is wonderful knowing that I have at least one option available to me.

Congrats! I also have an interview for Lane CC, but I am not sure I will keep it. OHSU was my first choice. I hear ya about the loans :/ lol

What time of day did your offer of admittance email come through? I applied for the nursing program in Ashland and we haven't heard anything yet. Just wanting to curb my desire to refresh my inbox every five minutes. ;)

Mine was sent at 10:35 AM. I don't know if your campus will do the same, but we also received phone calls. Good Luck!!

I'm sending in my deposit today! WE'RE GOING TO OHSU! I am so excited to finish this journey I started over a year ago...

If you don't mind me asking what kind of grades did you have? Is the application by a points system? How was the interview?

4.0 in prerequisites with some healthcare experience (non-nursing). They do not have a published point system, but they must base their decisions off of something. They invited 64 people to interview for 32 spots. In addition to the interview there were two essay portions: one that you did at home and one you did at the interview that was proctored.

I'm not allowed to go into detail about the interview, but it was definitely unique! We had the opportunity to talk to current students, which I found to be really informative.

So it was a group interview?

Where are all the other members of our cohort? :nurse: Have any of you heard from our contact about supplies we'll need, or the Facebook group that's is supposed to be established for us?

@efda2rn you have to establish your own facebook group if your class chooses to do so, the instructors don't neccasarily endorse facebook because it hasnt worked well for every class but it is AWESOME for mine. Each class has their own but someone (me for the current sophomore class) creates it and shares it with everyone they know. I think we had about 16 students on the page before orientation and almost everyone is on it now. There is a Monmouth Student Nurses Association page that you will be invited to after orientation as well. I am currently helping a little (just writing a letter to the new class) with the packets that you will receive in June with all the info you need about supplies. We needed a blood pressure cuff, stethescope...dont over think this just get a littman classic, pen light, the scrubs we wear are forest green I have dickies and squint brands, shoes have to be black or white, and you need a thigh length white lab coat, the OHSU patches can be bought at the WOU book store. This information might change for your class but all the classes attending now this is what was required of us.

@Kvedaa Thanks for the update! Any idea when we should get our book lists?
