Hi,
Anyone else out there getting anxious to hear from OHSU's Portland campus for their BSN program? They said they'll notify in early May which is still a month away, but I just want to know now! It's my first time applying and the only program that I applied to this year, so I'm not counting on it.
Good luck to everyone!
:)
The message was very long and convoluted. What difference does it make, and why would they waste their time if I am not offered admission.
The admission was not offered. I am very confused as well.
That's kind of interesting. Yeah, why would they call if they don't offer you an admission. Did you try calling them back?
Mac kay, I asked the secretary who called me on how they pick alternates. She said that there is no set number, and everyone they(selection committee) feel is qualified gets on it. She was not willing to disclose how many, if any, admitted students have declined. She said "June 16th" many times, so I guess that would be the reveal day for us.
When asked, she said that they are trying to "touch base" with everybody on the alternate list as lot could happen since the beginning of May.
Alternates who are going to be offered spots are going to be notified by phone.
I hope this helps

People who are getting similar phone calls, please post here.
So they just called to confirm that if a spot opens up you would want to take it? What campus did you apply for? I called them a week ago just to make sure they got my alternate reservation form...she seemed appreciative that I checked in with them. Guess they just want to make sure they have enough people on he alternate list....

I applied to Klamath Falls campus. The voice mail I got yesterday was completely unsolicited ( I have not called them at all). The message started out with something like "we wanted to touch bases with you" and "we received your "alternate spot confirmation form on such date", then I was offered to callback if I have any questions about the program and was informed that if there is any movement on the alternate list, it will happen on the June 16th.
I called back today and asked questions that were important to me and also asked MacKay's question and a question that my friend had (same as Mackay's). She asked to notify them if I do not plan to attend (in other words if I wanted to remove myself from the alternate list).
She reiterated that if there is any movement on the alternate list, it will happen on the June 16th and wished me god luck.
I don't know if this is the new customer service policy or they are tired of understandably anxious people calling. Maybe it is sign from Chesus, smiling at me, or the devil playing a cruel joke. I really don't know.
wow thank you all so much for all of the info! I am confused about your call as well.....but nice thing is it is probably a positive sign! At least they are thinking of you !! well good luck to you! I hope we get a call on the 16th and we can all be excited! It is so interesting to me the whole process of admittance. Well I know that if we get in we will be even more excited/appreciative coming from this situation. Six more days will drag on! I will keep everyone up to date on everything that comes my way
Does anyone know of anyone who was offered an alternative position that has declined? Just curious :)
MacKay, even you get a number of alternates accepted in the previous years, it is not going to tell you anything. You cannot assume that same people with same circumstances apply each year.
I know what your saying....just was curious on average ...thought it might give me somewhat of an idea. Doesn't really matter....my mind is just going nonstop
Yes...I was accepted to the University of Alaska for their BSN program. Other than that im on waitlists, 7th for Boise State and something crazy like 109th for Univ. Of Portland, and I was denied to PCC and CCC. Thought about applying to Linfield but I don't think I want to go into that kind of debt right away considering I want to go to graduate school. I guess I'll see what happens. :)

Does anyone have any idea how they decide how many alternates to pick....or if its just a set number extra every year? Also....anyone with experience have any idea how many alts get in each year on average?
Mackay, I will ask this question for you.
