OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010

Published

Hi,

Anyone else out there getting anxious to hear from OHSU's Portland campus for their BSN program? They said they'll notify in early May which is still a month away, but I just want to know now! It's my first time applying and the only program that I applied to this year, so I'm not counting on it.

Good luck to everyone!

:)

Summer, we should be getting letters today or tomorrow. It is hard to have an objective opinion about the interview.

I don't know if everyone was as nervous as I was. I felt that toward the end I was applying for a CNA job, not a spot at a nursing program. Even though I feel that my skills and experiences are extremely valuable, from my experience, nursing and a job of CNA don't really have much in common.

Hi Larisa,

I agree that CNA and nursing are different, but you are around nurses and you work with them in the health care facility. Basically, you get a feel of what a nursing job would be like and you help people too. By working as a CNA you can test yourself if you are suitable for the health care environment. I've seen myself so many people finish their CNA and then work for 1.5 week and quit. That should tell you something.I think if it's not in your heart "helping people" then you can't force yourself to do so. Good luck on your letter!I hope you get in:)

Hey guys,

Thank you, Suumer.

I was not accepted.

Summer, I feel like I tested myself plenty. Today was my 2-year anniversary working in LTF, and I worked at 3 other ones for total of 8 months when I was 19y.o.

Due to the high turnover, I have personally encountered/closely worked with at least a 100 nurses, and I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. I just can't wait to join the ranks of very good ones, and practice health care at higher standards than than what I sometimes observe.

Thank you, Suumer.

I'm sorry to hear that. Any luck somewhere else?

No, not yet.

The next stop is LCC at the end of this summer.

I might also hear something from OHSU in June if I am far up on their list.

I keep my fingers crossed for u!!!!I thought LCC already announced their acceptence notifications on June 2nd. Were u placed as an alternate there?

I meant Lower Columbia College in Longview.

Their app-n deadline is Sept. 1st.

Does anyone have any idea how they decide how many alternates to pick....or if its just a set number extra every year? Also....anyone with experience have any idea how many alts get in each year on average?

Mac Kay, I got a courtesy call today from the OHSU admission office.

In the voice mail message, I was offered to call back if I had any questions. Did you get a call?

Oh, they called you?! Questions about what? Did they offer you a spot there? It's just a little bit confusing.

The message was very long and convoluted.

What difference does it make, and why would they waste their time if I am not offered admission.

The admission was not offered. I am very confused as well.
