OHSU BSN Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all I just thought I would start this, since there doesn't appear to be anything started for the Fall 2017 3 year BSN at OHSU. Feel free to update as you get emails regarding interviews, acceptances, etc. This week it looks like everyone should be hopefully getting a email hearing something if they are chosen for a interview. I wonder if due to the lack of any posts for the Fall 2017 that means that competition isn't as fierce as in prior cycles... this is probably not the case. But it seems like the cohort has been alot more quite then in the past.

Maybe take them down to the scrubs store on Macadam and compare?

Awesome, thanks so much;) There's sooo much to do when you're a newbie that it's overwhelming! I bought a pair of hunter green scrubs online, and when they arrived, they definitely looked like a dark forest green, but the scrubs I've seen OHSU student wear look more like a dark teal green. How much variation is there with scrub shades of green?

Different Brands have different shades, nobody will give you grief about it

Does anyone know when to expect our financial aid package? I'd be nice to know what to expect and prepare for.

I've been lurking on this page for a while now. Recently got off the 'moderately likely' wait list and offered a spot at the Portland campus. I just wanted to know from those already in the OHSU nursing program what and where they are taking the additional 15 credits of upper division course work. I was looking to do mine at PSU. Just wanted to know if there are any "easy" classes I could take in order to complete those credits. Thanks in advance!

I took all psych classes. With some of the prerequisites needed for the program, the extra psych classes fulfilled the requirements needed for a minor in psychology.

Many of us took an online class together during spring term because we only had 9 credits. We have a document on the mentor facebook page which lists classes people took and how easy they were (: (This is for the Portland Campus)

Is there a link or keyword(s) I can search on facebook to get access to this info?!

I think it's a secret group, but you should get invited once mentor/mentee paperwork goes out and everything gets sorted. If you're wondering about the specific class I brought up, the class was "PHE 446U" at PSU. Btw, congrats on your acceptance (:

Hey guys...just thought i'd post and let you know that the Littman Cardio IV is 20% off on Prime Day (Amazon, if you have Prime). Looks like it's only the black one. Anyways, hope this helps =)

I had a question about a clipboard. Does anyone use the whitecoat clipboard? Do we need one? so many other people recommend it.

A handful of people in my cohort use them. Some of them like it, others have ended up selling theirs. The problem that most people have is the fact that they fold. This means that that any paper you have in it ends up folded as well and will not want to lay flat when the clip board is opened up. Some people have also had problems with the hinges becoming loose.

I like the idea of those clipbords, however, a lot of the info is either ingrained in my head already, or is not very useful in my opinion.

Personally, I use a small spiral notebook. It is 5x7 I believe (a little smaller than your average paperback book) it fits nicely in the cargo pocket of my scrub pants. It lets me have lots of paper to write notes and the particular notebooks I buy (5 star by Mead) have an organizational area in the front that I put my "brain" sheet or extra notes.

I use a folding clipboard to write stuff down to use in my post-clinical reflections (its also useful in the earlier quarters where you aren't doing point of care charting and have to chart in simchart). I haven't had any problems with it at all. However, they are kind of big and some members of my cohort found that they don't fit in their scrub pockets.
