Hey everyone! I am applying for OHSU BSN monmouth program this coming Fall for the 2016 school year! I would love to get a thread started :) It was so helpful last year! I will also be applying for Chemeketa this year.
Hope to hear from you all soon!
Anybody get the stuff needed to do the drug test from complio? I got an email reminding me to do it, but I haven't received anything from them yet.
They said on complio that my info regarding the drug screening had been sent out, but I never received anything about it. After a few weeks I emailed them and they emailed the information as to where I needed to have it done, so I was able to get it taken care of after that. So my advice would be that if you don't receive anything in the mail from them after a couple weeks, then email them so they can send you what you'll need to complete it. Hope that helps!
just turned in my acceptance letter today to the Portland campus. Looking forward to starting the journey! love the campus but im still trying to figure out the commute and parking issues. Does anyone have any experience with commuting to the Portland campus? i have never taken public transportation but it seems like i might have to start.

You can get there by bus or by bus/max/tram. I plan on taking the max and the tram. I know in previous years a good amount of people have car pooled. I've heard that parking passes are really hard to come by. It's pretty easy and fast to get there by public transportation. I've only done it once but it wasn't bad at all. You could always do park and ride at a max station and then ride the max/tram.
Yeah I just wonder how many cars will be needed for clinicals that aren't on the hill, and whether we'll be able to carpool. I guess we're lucky in that we'll have significantly less clinical sites that are far away from our SoN compared to other nursing schools around the state.
I was just thinking about that. The only problem I see is there may not be very many people living all that close to each other. I have a car and I would carpool but I'm sure there aren't too many people coming from oregon city/ milwaukie (or maybe there are... who knows).
i live in wilsonville its easiest for me to just drive up there since the drive is actually not very bad even during traffic time. But im worried about parking. There are a lot less options to take public transportation from where i live. The other problem is clinical sites, will we ever have clinical right after class? from what i know usually the first two years of clinicals are not spent on the hill that is usually reserved for the 3rd year students.
I'll be carpooling from Happy Valley with my husband to start with and see how that goes. I have to leave extra early in order to get my daughter to preschool so people probably won't want to carpool with me haha Commute and parking was a huge reason why I didn't consider OHSU originally when I began my prereqs, but I figure that's temporary and plenty of people do it every day.

I'm going to be having mine drop me off at the max then make him take our daughter to preschool at least to start and especially on lecture days. Then if it works out better I might just take myself or park and ride. It all depends on what we are doing on any given day I guess. It sort of stresses me out to think about... but it will be worth it. Right?

I don't remember exactly where I found it (maybe sample program of study?) on the OHSU site, but from what I can see of past years' schedules, it looks like we will have lecture on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and then the clinical days are Thursdays and Fridays, starting at 7 am. So if clinicals are off campus, it will theoretically be easy enough to just drive directly to whatever location, rather than having to deal with trying to park on or near campus, then head off for clinicals later in the day. I hope I'm understanding that correctly...
