OHSU BSN Fall 2017
@dontwantnoscrubs is the master for free online books. I don't think you can share links over this? But he should be able to help you out! I'll message him and ask him to share.

OHSU BSN Fall 2017
I was the same. My daughter wasn't in daycare at all until I started school. We still have time to go and do things and play. Around midterms and finals she spends more time with family so I can study without feeling neglectful. Haha. It's working out okay. Last term was harder. It's been much better than I thought. She's in preschool/daycare Monday through Friday and I pick her up and drop her off at different times on different days. I try to get most of my work done while she's in daycare or after she goes to sleep so I can focus on her on the weekends.

There are quite a few of us with kids! It's totally doable and you got this far, you can totally do It!

At the Portland campus we use ATI for the medication administration exams but in skills lab you demonstrate your ability and you get checked off. You do not do anything like the CNA state test. First term you could get away with one pair of scrubs as you aren't doing many clinicals. Later on I think its beneficial to have two (you only have clinicals 2 days a week). There are people who are involved in Nursing Students Without Borders and Student Nurses Association. We have not started IVs (Im assuming it will start in fall term?) except assessing the IV site. We learned catheter insertion and removal at the end of Winter term so we were prepared to do them this term in Acute. I will tell you that catheter is not as scary as it sounds (I did my first on my OR rotation day... so it was easy and made me feel much better). There is a mentorship program which I plan to get involved in next year.

OHSU BSN Fall 2017
I would expect to get started right away. I know a few people that thought that they could kind of take it slow in the beginning and it ended up biting them in the butt. Don't stress too much. It's hard and it's a big workload but they set you up to succeed and everyone is really helpful! The best thing I've EVER done is being at OHSU and the best thing that has happened to me was meeting all the people who have become an awesome support system for me. I don't know if anything that bad has happened to me but the second term I had some family things and then I let myself far pretty far behind. Theres a large workload but it's doable. I am a single mom with a four year old and I haven't struggled too badly.

Hello friend.

OHSU BSN Fall 2017
If you go to the one on macadam the guy that works there knows everything. He will tell you which ones will shrink and how to wash them. A lot of people shrink them when they first get them. But I would definitely go there for selection and the most help. Plus.. A DISCOUNT!

It's preference. They have to be plain green. I like ones with cargo pockets. I like wonderwink and dickies. A lot of other people have those too or greys anatomy. But you will be carrying a lot of things at times so I would make sure you at least have a few pockets.

It is the same. I haven't found a single.pair called forest. We all have Hunter.

OHSU BSN Fall 2017
Hunter is what you need. There is a place on macadam where you also get a discount saying you are going to OHSU. They have the most variety of green scrubs. Otherwise I try other that I can't find in Hunter and then order online.

You will have class in the clsb 2 days a week the first term and sim is down there. So some days you will either have to park there or take the max which stops directly in front.
-
OHSU BSN Fall 2017
There is parking at the clsb but it fills quick and you have to buy the passes early. It's also expensive. Best bet is max or bus to tram. Or park on the hill somewhere.

OHSU BSN Fall 2017
Some days it does. Other days it doesn't. On the days we have class in the morning it's not usually a problem. On the days we have class in the afternoon I usually just drive and pay to park behind the Son. It's a pain but not bad enough to go to a different school. Haha.

I take the max from a park and ride in milwaukie. Johnson creek/ Tacoma is filled pretty much everyday by 730 am. Some days I can't find parking at Park after a certain time. Then i have to drive to Holgate and street park. It's a pain but better than parking at OHSU most days.
