OHSU Accelerated Bachelors to Masters Summer 2017 Cohort

Published

Hey guys! I wasn't able to find a thread for students applying for the June 2017 start so I decided to Start one.

I thought it might be nice to hear from other prospective students going through the process. I submitted my application the first week of November and while I don't want to wish the holiday season away I'm already impatient to hear something back. ;)

I submitted my app right before the deadline. I'm just getting a bit nervous, as this is the only other program I applied to besides UCSF. I had my interview at UCSF a couple of weeks ago and am also waiting to hear back from them. I'm now regretting not applying to more programs, but I was hesitant to leave the west coast :-/ We shall see what happens!

I submitted my application quite early, I don't remember exactly when. Good luck on UCSF! It's such a great school/hospital!

I was fortunate to have an interview for the Acc Bacc to MSN PMHNP program this week. I learned that they have a limited number of spots in the Acc Bacc program for PMHNP candidates, but there is not a specific limit on the number of students they can admit directly into the PMHNP program. I also applied to the Accelerated BSN program on its own, so if I don't get into the Acc Bacc to PMHNP program now, I can at least try to get into the Accelerated BSN program and apply again next year for the PMHNP program. The faculty panel said that was a good idea. I'm still hopeful to get accepted for both programs now!

That's great!! How do you feel the interview went? I interviewed at UCSF for their accelerated PMNHP program and am really hoping I got in there since it doesn't seem like I'll get an interview at OHSU. I did also apply to the Accelerated BSN program at OHSU as well.

Good luck!!

I feel like the interview went pretty well. I was really nervous though. I'm really not a nervous person, but I felt like so much was riding on this interview since this was the only PMHNP program I applied to. The faculty seem really approachable and nice.

Hey Jeremy, since Seattle didn't get back to us I was wondering about your application stats. This is my second year applying and I'm just kind of curious about what they're looking for.

4 years of volunteer work

2 years work as an intake coordinator at an inpatient psych unit

cumulative 3.93 GPA (4.0 in pre-reqs at a community college)

degree in biology and environmental science

High verbal score on GRE

Good math score on GRE

Above Average writing score on GRE

Did you get any sort of letter yet TheEphie? I would expect them to send deny letters at the same time as interview invites, but maybe I'm wrong. Gah! Haha. I am just truly hoping my back up plan works out or I'll be waiting until next year. *sigh*

I have not received my denial letter yet. My application isn't as strong in GPA as a lot of folks, so that has me concerned. I've been working at a residential treatment home for men with severe and persistent mental illness for four years, and have spent the last seven months volunteering at OHSU so I was hoping the experience would help.

I also applied to the Accelerated Bachelor's programs at both OHSU and Linfield, and those programs reach out in March so I'm trying to hang on to that hope.

I'm pretty sure those being interviewed for the PMHNP program will have already been contacted as the last day of interviews is this week. I don't know about the other programs.

I was denied by two PA school programs because I didn't have the clinical experience they were looking for. I had to keep trying. Best of luck to everyone still waiting. I'm still waiting for a final decision.

Your experience sounds great though! I have faith that you'll get in somewhere! Keep plugging along :-)

My cumulative GPA is only a 3.5 and my GRE scores were low. I still somehow got an interview at UCSF, which is still quite shocking to me. Perhaps because I did well in the prerequisites and have a lot of experience working/volunteering abroad and with the homeless population. Who knows if I'll actually get in there though, as their PMHNP cohort is like 8-10 people. Yikes! I also applied to the Accelerated BSN program at OHSU, so maybe we'll hear back about that.

Did they say when the last day of interviews was going to be? Last I heard is that they were adding an additional day but did not know when it would be... Thanks! Also good luck!
