OHSU ABSN-MSN/DNP Midwifery 2016

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hi everyone!

I just started my application for OHSU's ABSN-MSN/DNP in Midwifery program, so I figured I should start a thread like there was for previous cohorts since I have a bunch of questions about the application.

To start: I noticed that there is only one application for admission to both programs (ABSN-MSN and ABSN-DNP), does the single application cover both programs? Or would I need to apply twice if I were to apply to both? Is it possible to apply to both?

I originally was only going to apply to the ABSN-MSN program, but if the ABSN-DNP is also an option I wouldn't mind also applying to it. Though I would assume the ABSN-DNP competition is tougher than the ABSN-MSN, is that true? Or are there less applicants making it less competitive?

I would love really any insight on the programs and the application processes!

@ncastle That's awesome! Congrats! I sent in my application in November too, so hopefully I will hear back soon too. What's your background/academic history if you don't mind telling?

I am kinda frustrated that they don't give us a date to expect a call by. It would be nice to know when they should call!

I have a BA in international studies and foreign language, and have worked in international health policy and public health management since graduation. Fingers crossed! I bet they're still waiting for a lot of applications to verify.

@MakeMeAMidwife I know they do Skype interviews, too.

@ncastle:

Were the second set of interview dates the 3rd/4th or the 4th/5th? On their website it says 4th/5th, which is a Thurs/Fri like the 21/22, so I was just curious. (I have another phone interview on the 5th so it would be nice if there were no interviews on that day that could overlap!)

You're right about the 4th and 5th, @sml14, I just couldn't edit my post after I logged out. They offered me a lot of different times, so I bet you could schedule it around your other commitment.

Just got a call offering an interview! And you're right, I did get to choose my time. When is your interview?

Congrats!! I'm 2:30pm on the 22nd.

Awesome! I chose the 5th. Are you local or will you be flying in from somewhere?

I'll be driving down from Washington, you?

Still waiting to hear. . . Does anyone know what the rank means on NursingCas final application?

Where do you see a rank?

Just looked at another OHSU thread and found that the rank refers to your preferences for all the programs you applied to using NursingCAS. So if you apply to multiple programs, then you rank them 1, 2, 3 etc.

I saw rank #1 on my app and for a second got excited that maybe it meant I am the first-ranked applicant haha.
