OHSU ABSN-MSN/DNP Midwifery 2016

Hi everyone!

I just started my application for OHSU's ABSN-MSN/DNP in Midwifery program, so I figured I should start a thread like there was for previous cohorts since I have a bunch of questions about the application.

To start: I noticed that there is only one application for admission to both programs (ABSN-MSN and ABSN-DNP), does the single application cover both programs? Or would I need to apply twice if I were to apply to both? Is it possible to apply to both?

I originally was only going to apply to the ABSN-MSN program, but if the ABSN-DNP is also an option I wouldn't mind also applying to it. Though I would assume the ABSN-DNP competition is tougher than the ABSN-MSN, is that true? Or are there less applicants making it less competitive?

I would love really any insight on the programs and the application processes!

When did they send that? I haven't submitted my application yet but hadn't heard that. Does the 1500 character limit on NursingCAS increase though? I just worked super hard to get it to exactly 1500 characters!

I know! Ironic after I spent days agonizing over the characters. I got this on December 2nd:

It has been brought to our attention there was a discrepancy between the maximum word length we allow for the admissions essay portion of your application and the space that Nursing CAS provided for you to type. This is in the process of being fixed, but it looks like you already submitted your essay response. We wanted to give you a chance to resubmit your essay if you would like. Please follow the same essay prompt as before and limit your response to 700 words. If you choose to resubmit your essay, please email a word document or pdf with your updated essay to ----------------- by December 18, 2015. We will then upload it to your application for you.

No, but I had already submitted my application. There's a lot less chatter this year from previous years. How many of us are here?

I agree this thread has been much quieter than those for other schools. I submitted my application for the AccBacc to MN in Midwifery

I haven't heard anything since submitting. So not much to say on this front.

I applied for ASBN to FNP and haven't heard anything. I'm getting really anxious!

It appears they changed the deadline to today (the 4th), so I imagine it will still be a little bit before we hear anything. But last I heard interviews start at the end of this month/early Feb so I'm sure we'll hear something before too long! From what I heard it also sounds like they invite quite a few applicants to interview and then really narrow it down based on the interview.

I just got a call from admissions offering me an interview!! I'm surprised they moved so quickly, given the extended deadline, but I've had my application in since November so maybe they're working through them in order. They offered me the 21/22 of January or the 3/4 of February. Apparently on the Thursdays there are potluck mixers (like in previous years), where you can meet the faculty and other applicants, and ask questions.

Hi everyone!

Like akbreezo, I applied to the FNP program and not midwifery, but I am finding very little chatter on the site this year! Would love to hear from folks as they get interviews since in the last email I got said, "f you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by Faculty. Candidates not selected for an interview will not be contacted."
