OHSU ABSN to Masters in Psych 2014

Hey. I thought I would start a thread for those of us who applied to the OHSU Acc Bac to Masters in Psych for the 2014 cohort. How does everyone feel? Personally the addition of the Nursing CAS portion of the application was a little stressful. Especially since they say it takes them weeks to process your application to send to OHSU. Yikes!

Oh, and I was wondering if anyone knows anyone who has graduated from the program? Did they feel well-prepared to work as a PMHNP? And are they able to find work as an PMHNP? Or do they work as a RN for a period of time? Thanks in advance!

My mentor attended OHSU and completed their accelerated PMHNP program. She did not have trouble finding work, worked in community mental health for 5+ years before finally deciding to expand her private practice. She is an amazing woman and is doing quite well for herself. I do know that it can be harder to find a job at the psych hospital but that is because in this area there is a flood of students. But all of my nursing friends report it is difficult to find work in the PDX area without having a specialty and think that this route is one of the smarter routes to go. Hope this helps!

I talked to them earlier this week and they said calls will go out in the next two weeks. So we've got some time.

Thanks for the information. Did they say when interviews were going to be or just that they'll be making phone calls within the next two weeks? Online it says that they are typically held in February... I am so tired of this waiting game. Patience when it comes to interviews and the such I do not have as a virtue. Patience for clients and humans that need it I do have that as a virtue. :nurse:

Unfortunately they didn't have dates yet for the interviews.. just a time frame like before. Waiting is so hard, I agree!

I am getting that sinking feeling that it isn't going to happen again this year.

Review process has just begun. No scheduled date for the interviews but they will make that decision by the end of the week. Last year, it was on Valentine's day so I'm suprised it has been pushed back. Perhaps because of our recent snowmagedden.

Here is what I heard today.

Thank you for your interest in the OHSU School of Nursing! ! The faculty have just began the review process. They do not have a date scheduled for interviews at this time. We anticipate they will make this decision by the end of next week. Final decision communications will go out early March. Best of luck!

I just received a phone call for the PMHNP program for an interview this coming Tuesday. Finally OHSU is catching up on all their applications! Good luck to everyone!!!!! :yes:
