Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
I am unable to access it. I plug in global health 101 Ohio University, nothing comes up. What should I type to access the thread?
Here's a link to the thread. https://allnurses.com/ohio-university-online/global-health-hsp-811406.html
I will complete it in 35 weeks although I have not taken all the classes consecutively..I also took classes out side of OU but for the nursing I believe now you could get through in 30 weeks if you double up all but the first last and one other 5 week session..However there are college requiements beyond just the nursing classes. None of which you have to take at OU..

Can all the course be taken online? I'm looking at SSU and the nursing classes are online but the general education course are all offered in the classroom only
What about general courses?
I live in PA, so the general classes that I needed, I took in my community college and then transferred them over without a problem and I completed those online as well. The only general class that you have to take at Ohio is the Junior level English class- if you don't have it already. I just finished the first nursing class at Ohio and it wasn't too bad, I basically work full time and have a preschooler :) . As of right now, I am only take a single class per session, but am thinking about doubling up in at least one session to be done by this fall.
I am taking the classes way out of order too, my next one is the Community Health class, wish me luck!
I just figured out that it will take me 16 more months to complete this degree, and that is with taking 3 couses per semester. I only have 4 more nusing classes, but the gen ed are what is taking so long. When I am finished I will have taken the 9 Nursing and 13 additional courses........ I think if I had known this going in, I wouldn't have done it. I am burnt out on school. I've been taking classes for a year with no break except the time between semesters in December.
And 16 more months... with no breaks, just makes it sounds ovewhelming.
Anyone else feel that way??
