Ohio University FNP Online?

Published

Has anyone attended their program or know anyone who has. They are saying the FNP takes 27 months and the entire cost is $22,100. The cost makes me weary :uhoh3: Trying to find reviews on the internet but not having any success.

So are you applying to NP school somewhere else? I'm looking around...OU sounds unrealistic. I bust my @$$ now for the BSN program!

I'm still researching it all. I have coworkers in both programs. In fact, because I live in Memphis, I have 4 coworkers in the Memphis program and work with 4 FNP's who went to Memphis. They all said it was reasonable. One of the FNP's took 4 years to complete the program a little bit at a time. Most are doing the regular pace of 2 years. The coworker at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) loves his program.

I would like to wait until my youngest is in school, which won't be until fall 2013.

I am in the middle of completing my MSN application currently. I hope to get started in 2013 sometime. I will be graduating with my BSN from OU in June. I found the program to be rather easy. I like OU because I won't have to take the GRE. I have no other prospects in mind as far as schools go right now. But this thread has a lot of good info!

My concern is the time commitment involved. I'm hearing that 40 hrs/week is typical. That is unfortunate for me as I have to work FT. One person on here had to drop out. While I don't expect a cake walk the amount of work seems unrealistic for someone who has to work.

Aren't all np programs time consuming? I have read that most are I would expect it. When I spoke with Pam (admissions) she said that it was a 2 year full time program. I told her I would take me 3 at least with work, kids, etc. She said that was fine. I worry about finding preceptors in all the specialties.

She told me about 20 hrs/ week of course work. What I'm hearing is more like 40. Yes, they are all demanding. I didn't know you could attend part-time. That's interesting to hear. Thanks.

I was told we had up to 6 years to complete the program.

I'll apply at OU and at another college I have been looking at. It has on-campus activities for skills labs and advanced assessment - wish OU had the same thing as I think it is important to at least know something p/t clinicals :twocents:

I agree with you about some face to face for skills. That part makes me nervous. I am applying to 3 schools.

Just finished my CV - looks kind of bare! What did everyone include? I didn't put in a goal statement as we have to submit a goal statement paper as part of the admission process. I included education, awards, any teaching experience, related job experience, language ability and professional memberships - am I missing anything?? Microsoft templates was a little confusing - I picked the basic CV one. Thanks!!!

Well sista, you've got more than me! I speak one language, don't teach and have one award. Oh well, take it or leave it. There's no fluff to disprove. I think GPA, references and the goal statement will be the primary factors. You'll have no problem with your background. :w00t:

You are far too kind!
