Ohio State Master's Entry Summer 2016

Published

Hello! Has anyone out there applied to the Entry Master's Program at Ohio State for the Summer 2016 start?

They're pretty good about keeping to their deadlines. It says February 1. I bet this year since they had an uptick in apps received that we don't find out until closer to that date. That's my guess anyway. If I could have my way, we'd find out next week :)

I hate to add that in the FAQ on the grad entry website it says:

  • Most applicants will be notified by March 1. It is possible, however, that some applicants will not be notified until much closer to the start of Summer Session.

I'm sure finding out later than March would be a rare exception and they probably will accept/deny in waves?

Hey everyone!

I just called admissions--they said notifications should be out end of February...

...This should significantly increase my cell phone battery life--until the end next month. Ahhh!

Oh geez. I thought it would be the end of January. Like last year. They have two pages with conflicting info on their website :(

I've heard from past students that you will actually get the email saying you were accepted or not before they even update the status on the website

I heard on appstatus before I got an email. I think it was 30 days before I even got an email.

*HUGE SIGH*

Maybe that's only for accepted students then? Idk.........

Well last year I knew that decisions were being made before the deadline (both acceptances and denials) so maybe we'll be lucky and know something before the end of February

Congrats to everyone who got interviews, I hope everyone did well.I don't know if not getting an interview should be concerningí ½í¸³.

Just out of curiousity what was everyone's undergraduate and cumulative GPA? Mine was nutrition and a 3.505

We can't really be sure if not getting an interview is a bad thing. However they did say in the email they sent with the interview invite that "Being invited interview is a suggestion that your application is competitive". I know that someone else on this forum never received their invite even though it was sent. Did you call admissions?

I know you said that you applied to the FNP specialty. I did as well. That specialty is the most competitive. I ultimately did not get in last year after being placed on a waitlist. I don't know if I'll get in this year, but one of the things I did that was helpful was that after I didn't get in I talked to faculty to get advice on how to be more competitive and they helped a LOT.

I know that you're worried you won't get in and I am too. Hopefully we'll both be successful!!

My degree is in Psych with a 3.495 GPA. I did well in my prereqs so I guess that would probably bring the cumulative up, they said they take all classes completed and calculate a new GPA from that...which I never worked out on my own. I will be so disappointed if I don't get in. :( I guess theres always next year.....I wanna get the show on the road though and graduate before I'm 30 lol

I just spoke with admissions and she said not to even bother looking at anything until the end of January at the VERY VERY earliest. She said there was a delay with interviews and that was the problem.
