Ohio License by Endorsement

U.S.A. Ohio

I'm endorsing from MA to an OH RN license. Does anyone have any experience with the Ohio Board of Nursing/any idea how long this process usually takes? I was offered a job but can't start until my OH license processes. Any ideas on timeline would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply! Thats odd because when I was applying to the Illinois board - they required the endorsement application. I just haven't heard back and I don't want to start one and have to do it all over again. Their response time is horrible.

So for anyone that has endorsed your license - did you apply for a temporary license too? If so how long did that take? Did the verification website show that it was a temporary license? I'm so frustrated that they can't pick up the phone or answer emails!

*UPDATE*

Apparently the Ohio BON is super backed up - the person I spoke to said that they process every application in order (makes sense) and that they are still processing applications from back in July. FUN. Anywho still curious about how long it takes for the temporary permit. As for the license the person told me 6-8 weeks for processing time. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the fingerprint cards?

It ended up taking 8 weeks for my endorsement from MI to OH, applied the end of may very bad timing haha. I checked the box for the temporary permit, but I got my license. I think maybe since they were so backed up they just processed the license. I found out by none stop checking the verification page, and my actual license came in a week after it posted on the site.

I didn't have to do the fingerprint card, so I have no information regarding that. Best of luck!

It took me about 3 weeks from my initial email requesting fingerprint cards to actually get them. During those three weeks I probably sent 4 emails requesting them because I never got a response.

I applied for a temporary license about four weeks ago. I am still waiting for it, hopefully within the next couple of weeks I will get it (crossing my fingers for sooner rather than later)

oh geez that's scary. :nailbiting: Maybe I'll call them again this week and ask what the deal is. Keep me posted on if you ever get it? So I know there is hope :p

So this is the 8th week for me, and STILL no license!!! Can't get anyone to return any of the multiple voice mails and emails I have sent.

Regarding getting the fingerprinting cards, I suggest you call BCI directly. I sent in a request by email and didn't get a response, so after a week I called and I got the cards in like 2 or 3 business days after calling. Seeing how long the process can take I'm thinking that I should submit my application ASAP. Thanks for everyone's input. I found it helpful.

Thank you! This was exactly the information I needed. :-)

Today I FINALLY got my temporary license!! Yesterday I called the general number for the board and I selected the option to speak to the receptionist instead of the licensing option. Then I was transferred a couple of times to someone who was able to pull my file and give me an update of what was taking so long. She told me that they will be issuing my temporary license this week and they are just waiting for the FBI background check results.

If anyone is applying for endorsement, I would suggest getting the BCI & FBI fingerprint cards completed as soon as possible! The reason my FBI is still processing is because it took 3 or 4 weeks for the board to send me the cards originally.

Hope this helps!
