  1. NurseJackie11, were you able to pass? What materials did you use in the end?
  2. Thank you! This was exactly the information I needed. :-)
  3. Regarding getting the fingerprinting cards, I suggest you call BCI directly. I sent in a request by email and didn't get a response, so after a week I called and I got the cards in like 2 or 3 business days after calling. Seeing how long the process can take I'm thinking that I should submit my application ASAP. Thanks for everyone's input. I found it helpful.
  4. I was worried that I might kill a patient. That was the worst possible scenario in my mind. What put me at ease what the realization that I am a student and it's ok if I don't know something. Also, they don't usually give students super critical patients or put us in situations that we can't handle. What's most important in my opinion is that you not be afraid to ask for help. Also, learn strong assessment skills so that you know when something is wrong and know how to get help if you need it. Study hard, study like someone's life depends on you, and believe in yourself. Good luck!
  5. Nurse: "After nursing school my whole perception of the world really changed."
  6. I paid for nursing school with a combination of working full time, scholarships, and a little savings. I completed my pre-requisites for free because I worked for a college where undergrad tuition is free and then for the professional nursing track I had to pay out of pocket but I received some scholarships ($10,500) and was able to use only sub and unsub loans and just a bit of savings. All in all I graduated with less then $20,000 worth of loans for which I am very grateful, particularly since this is my second bachelor degree!
