has anyone received one of these??????

Ive had a couple of emails from people about this, it sounds horrendous.

opinions please

I stand corrected, thinking back to my old days, the Visa Screen Certificate is still only good for five years.............and that needs to be renewed every five years.

But it is still not automatically renewed, if you do not meet the requirements for maintaining permanent residency in the US.

Hi Gemma,

Whatever you decide to do leave OGP out of your plans. They will promise you the world at the start of the process but will leave you feeling isolated undervalued and connned.

You have been warned from one who knows!!

Good luck

I still have not signed. I havent had too much pressure put on me to do so. They keep telling me that the orginal contract states that they can amend it, but it does not. It states that both parties must agree in plain english. Also they want my reasons in writing, im reluctant to do so.

I just wonder what will happen in the end?

Has anybody been given an ultimatum?

My first experience with going o/s, thus far has been a disaster, and i still havent even left home.....

If you've checked out the contract & you're sure it doesn't give them the right to amend it then you should not sign anything new. If needs be get a solicitor to check it out, if they say it doesn't give them that right then you've got them!

Going to the USA is long haul, whatever route you choose, so don't be too hard on yourself! Now we have retrogression anyway so no-one is going there fast regardless of whether they went it alone or with an agency.

Your right. It just does not feel as clean cut as that. But it's a good way to look at it.

Cheers.

Hi Bongsau,

If your original contract with OGP is the same as mine it clearly states that neither party can amend it without written agreement from BOTH parties. So if you dont want to sign their new amendment you are still within your old contract.

Ask them to put into writing their reasons for wanting you to sign it. I bet they dont!! They will contact you by telephone after you have sent them your concerns in writing. Its almost as if they have something to hide!!

It sounds to me like they are not within their rights then so none of you should sign. I expect if you call their bluff & threaten them with law suits & solicitors they'll stop harrassing you to sign.

You will still be under the terms of their old contract so if they breach that by withdrawing job offers etc then you can sue them! my gut feeling is they won't though because they're just like any bully - a coward underneath & we all know what happens when you stand up to cowards!

Hello, everyone! Has anyone signed the revised contract at all?

They have you over a barrel and they know it. The revised contract is always sent out by them just prior to the interview with the US Embassy, and you must submit an updated contract to the Embassy when you go.

They will not give you one if it is not signed. That is what the issue is, so many will just sign it.

Unfortunately, there are many agencies that do this now.............shame on them.:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire or try ot lower the salaries once you get to the US and that is 100% illegal.

never showed any contract at my interview just an employment letter from them saying i was employed full time on a permanant contract.

My friend who moved to the usa didnt get asked to sign a revised contract just before her interview, neither did a few of the nurses on here

not saying they are right, just saying what my knowledge is of this, by the way, i wouldnt think a lower salary would be offered by them either, at least i have never heard of them doing that, as for other agencies, i cant speak for them

in answer to your question, bisaya, yes, many have signed the contract although some havent.

It looks like other agencies are jumping on this bandwagon. I am considering using interstaff and they are asking for guarators, however the cancellation fee is only equivalent to the assistance fees and is $10000. They are saying that whatever point you leave the contract you will only pay for any assistance you have already incurred. I don't really think this is unreasonable and once out there I would just get life and critical illness insurance to cover this amount (presuming they have that over in the states???)

It is, at least, a more sensible fee!
